432 <br />REGULAR MEETING MAY 12, 1980 <br />REFERRAL OF PETITION TO ALLOW ACCESS TO MICHIGAN <br />STREET FROM CITY PARKING LOT NO. 1 <br />Mr. McMahon stated that a petition had been received requesting <br />that vehicles parking in City Lot 1 be given access to Michigan <br />Street. The petition noted that, since the alley bordering the <br />lot is one way south, the lot north of the parking garage on St. <br />Joseph Street.had been given an exit on St. Joseph Street. Those <br />vehicles parked in City Lot 1 must drive south in the alley to <br />Jefferson and then drive three blocks to arrive back at the <br />corner of Washington and Michigan where the parking lot is located <br />The petition was signed by 53 individuals. Upon a motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and carried, the petition was <br />referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the director of <br />the Parking Garages. <br />APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 3 - RITSCHARD BROTHERS (FIRST <br />BANK CENTER) <br />Mr. McMahon reported that Ritschard Brothers, Inc. was submitting <br />for approval of Change Order No. 3 in the amount of $5,440.00 for <br />the placement of 1,360 cubic yards of granular fill for the parking <br />garage ramp. The contract amount, including Change Order No. 3, <br />was in the amount of $482,612.07. Mr. McMahon stated that the <br />Construction Manager and the Architect had reviewed the change <br />order and recommended approval. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, Change Order No. 3 in the amount <br />of $5,440.00 was approved. <br />REQUEST FOR IMPROVED STREET LIGHTING - MORRIS PARK COUNTRY CLUB <br />A request was received from the Morris Park Country Club concerning <br />the street lighting at the intersection of Madison Street and <br />Ironwood Drive. Mr. Curtis R. Heckaman, House Chairman of the <br />Board of Directors, requested the installation of a more modern <br />lamp which would give greater illumination than the present old- <br />fashioned concrete post lamp. Mr. McMahon made a motion that <br />the request be filed and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting to be considered when the moritorium on street lighting <br />is lifted, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried. <br />FILING OF ADJUSTED PARKING RATES - SOUTH BEND PARKING CO., INC. <br />Mr. McMahon noted that the South Bend Parking Company had submitted <br />notification of an adjustment in their parking rates as follows: <br />310 West Washington Street - Lot 4 <br />$1.00 up to 12 hours <br />220 West Wayne Street - Lot 20 <br />$1.00 up to 12 hours <br />225 West Washington Street - Lot 23 <br />$ .50 up to 1 hour <br />.25 each additional hour <br />1.25 maximum all day <br />.75 evenings <br />The notice of adjusted parking rates was signed by Mr. Harry <br />Coffman and was dated May 2, 1980. Mr. McMahon explained that <br />the Board of Public Works had no control over the rate adjustments <br />and that the correspondence from Mr. Coffman would be noted and <br />filed with the Board. <br />
