4 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />APPROVE RECOMMENDATIONS TO DENY TAXI CAB LICENSES <br />MARCH 24. 1980 <br />Upon a recommendation received by City Controller Joseph E. Kernan, <br />Mr. McMahon made a motion to deny the license applications of <br />Steve Paul Botka and Donald E. Overbay, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried. Mr. Kernan stated that he felt the recent convictions <br />of Mr. Botka needed further explanation, and Mr. Overbay currently <br />had a suspended driver's license. The Clerk was instructed to <br />advise Mr. Botka and Mr. Overbuy of their rights to discuss the <br />matter. <br />APPROVE APPLICATION FOR OPEN AIR STAND - RIVER BEND PLAZA <br />The Board received the application of John C. Olive for permission <br />to set up a trailer on River Bend Plaza from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m <br />April 1 through April 5, 1980, for the purpose of selling Dyngus <br />Day postcards. An application was also received for permission <br />to set up a trailer in the vicinity of the West Side Civic and <br />Democratic Club on Ford Street on Dyngus Day. Upon a motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and carried, approval <br />was given for the River Bend Plaza location with the exact <br />location on the Plaza to be determined by the Plaza coordinator, <br />Mikki Dobski. Mr. McMahon advised Mrs. John Olive, who was <br />present for the meeting, to obtain permission from the owner of <br />the property near the West Side Club where the trailer would be <br />located and submit it to the Board for consideration at its <br />meeting on March 31, 1980. <br />APPROVE COMMUNITY GARDEN PROGRAM <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Hill and <br />carried, approval was given for the Community Garden Program <br />for 1980, to be set up in accordance with the same rules and <br />regulations as in 1979. It was suggested that the various <br />neighborhood groups be advised of the program. <br />APPROVE PURCHASE AGREEMENT (910 SOUTH COLUMBIA STREET) <br />The Board received the purchase agreement of DeVere D. Goheen for <br />the purchase of city -owned property at 910 South Columbia Street <br />for the sum of $725.00. Approval had previously been granted <br />for the sale of the property by the Board of Public Works and <br />the Common Council. Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Kernan and carried, the purchase agreement was approved <br />and the Legal Department was instructed to prepare the necessary <br />deed of conveyance. <br />COUNTER -OFFER FOR PURCHASE OF 718 SOUTH BENDIX <br />The Board received a letter from Mrs. Mary Navarro, 212 South <br />Taylor Street, for the purchase of city -owned property located <br />at 718 South Bendix Street. Approval had previously been granted <br />for said sale by the Board of Public Works and the Common Council, <br />and the property had been determined to have an estimated <br />valuation of $807.00. Mrs. Navarro expressed her desire to <br />purchase the property but felt the $807.00 figure was too high <br />and made a counter -offer of $200.00 for the property. After a <br />brief discussion, it was suggested that Mrs. Navarro be advised <br />that the city would sell the parcel for the sum of $500.00; <br />however, this figure would need to be approved by the Common Council. <br />APPROVE STREET LIGHT RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Mr. Joe Pluta, Assistant Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, submitted to the Board the following recommendation <br />for the installation of street lights at the request of property <br />owners: <br />
