364 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO <br />INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS <br />MARCH 3, 1980 <br />6, 1980 - McKINLEY- MANCHESTER <br />RESOLUTION NO. 6. 1980 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works has found it necessary in <br />the best interests of the public safety and welfare <br />to construct certain improvements at the intersection <br />of McKinley and Manchester. <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works has the authority to make <br />such improvements as provided by Acts of the <br />General Assembly, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED: <br />1. That the Board of Public Works orders the <br />Department of Public Works to prepare plans, <br />specifications, cost estimates, secure the <br />necessary right of way and easements, by <br />the doing of all acts necessary and desirable <br />to the acquisition by gift, purchase, or <br />condemnation; <br />2. Secure permits, appropriations, and to construct <br />certain improvements at the intersection of <br />McKinley and Manchester. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />s/ Patrick M. Byers, Clerk <br />Mr. McMahon explained that the city has been attempting to signalize <br />this particular intersection for the past couple of years. A <br />design had been prepared and submitted but had been rejected by <br />the State Highway Commission in December, 1979. The city was now <br />in the position where certain property owned by the Park Jefferson <br />Apartments would have to be acquired in order to make the necessary <br />improvements for a four -way intersection at that location. Mr. <br />McMahon stated that it was anticipated the improvements would be <br />made during the calendar year 1980. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Kernan and <br />carried, the above resolution was adopted. <br />ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 7, 1980 - DISPOSITION OF <br />OBSOLETE VEHICLE <br />RESOLUTION NO. 7, 1980 <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Board of Public Works <br />that the following vehicle is obsolete and deteriorated to <br />the point where repair costs would exceed its value: <br />Fire Department <br />Mechanical No. 127, 1965 Ford Pick -up <br />Truck - Serial No. FlOBL666239 <br />
