REGULAR MEETING <br />225 <br />OCTOBER 15,, 1.979 <br />SPECIAL MEETING SCHEDULED - FIRST BANK CENTER GARAGE <br />Mr. McMahon noted that the Board would hold a Special Meeting <br />to award the bids for the Garage Portion of the First Bank Center <br />Project. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, a special meeting was set for Friday, October 19, <br />1979 at 9:30 a,m. <br />FUND SOLICITATION APPROVED FOR KIDNEY FOUNDATION - OCTOBER 21 <br />Firefighter Darrell Young submitted a request to the Board to <br />conduct a fund solicitation to benefit the Kidney Foundation at <br />the intersection of Chippewa and U.S. 31 on Sunday, October 21 <br />from noon until 4:00 p.m. It is anticipated there will be ten <br />participants in the solicitation. The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />reviewed the request with the Police Department Traffic Detail <br />and reported approval is recommended with the following stipulations: <br />1. The solicitation will be conducted on the sidewalk area and <br />not in the intersection and must in no way impede, stop, <br />delay or otherwise interfere with the safe and efficient <br />movement of vehicular traffic. <br />2. The solicitation will be conducted between the hours <br />of noon and 4:00 p.m, on Sunday, October 21, 1979. <br />3. All participants must sign a Hold Harmless Agreement <br />indemnifying the City of South Bend. <br />Upon motion made by Mr, McMahon, seconded by Mr, Brunner and carried, <br />the request was approved subject to the requirements of the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department. <br />REQUEST TO CLOSE PORTION OF WASHINGTON ST. ON NOVEMBER 11 APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from Red Conery on behalf of the St. <br />Joseph County Commander's Council to close the south half of <br />Washington Street on Sunday, November 11 from 10:00 a.m. to <br />noon for the annual Veteran's Day Ceremony. Upon motion made <br />by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr, Mullen and carried, the request <br />was approved. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />recommended approval of the following traffic control devices: <br />1. Designated Handicapped Parking Space at 819 E. Milton at <br />the request of the resident, with the property owner's <br />approval. <br />2. Revise No Parking Zone to No Parking within 15' of pavement <br />Tow -Away Zone, in front of 4210 Lincolnway West, at the location <br />of the Beacon Bowl, to improve sight distance for the two drives. <br />Requested by the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, with the <br />concurrence of the owner. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the requests were approved. <br />
