224 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />OCTOBER 15, 1979 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at <br />9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 1979 by President Patrick M. <br />McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr, Brunner and Mr, Mullen present. <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A.Crone was also present. <br />MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED <br />Mr. Mullen reported that the minutes of the October 8 meeting had <br />been reviewed and he made a motion that the minutes be approved <br />as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion and it carried, <br />AGENDA ITEM ADDED <br />Mr. McMahon noted receipt of an Excavation Bond for Michiana <br />Mechanical after the posting of the meeting agenda and he made a <br />motion that the bond be added to the agenda for consideration. <br />Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. <br />OPENING OF BIDS - VEHICLES. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for three vehicles for the <br />Community Development Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and in the Tri- <br />County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids <br />were opened and publicly read: <br />Harold Medow, Inc. Bid was signed by Stanley J. Pollyea, <br />South Bend, Indiana non- collusion affidavit was in order <br />and a 10% bid bond was submitted. <br />Bid - One to Three 1979 Plymouth Volare 4 door sedans <br />Unit Price - $4443.00 <br />Trade In for 1972 Chevrolet - $200.00 <br />Joe Hayden, Inc. <br />Niles, Michigan <br />Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone advised the Board that the <br />non - collusion affidavit was not signed and notarized and that the <br />bid did not contain a certified check as required for an out -of -state <br />bidder or a bid bond. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the bid of Joe Hayden was rejected. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the bid of Harold Medow was referred to the Community Development <br />Department for review and recommendation. <br />CONTRACT APPROVED - OLIVE STREET CURB AND SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS <br />A contract with Murdock and Sons for curb and sidewalk improvements <br />at the southeast corner of Olive and Washington Streets was submitted <br />to the Board for approval. The contract is in the amount of <br />$11,299.25 and is in accordance with the bid accepted. The Performance <br />and Labor and Materials Bond and Certificate of Insurance were <br />submitted. Upon.motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr.Brunner <br />and carried, the contract was approved and the bonds and insurance <br />certificate filed. <br />
