224 REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 15, 1979 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 1979 by President Patrick M. McMahon, with Mr. McMahon, Mr, Brunner and Mr, Mullen present. Deputy City Attorney Terry A.Crone was also present. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING APPROVED Mr. Mullen reported that the minutes of the October 8 meeting had been reviewed and he made a motion that the minutes be approved as submitted. Mr. McMahon seconded the motion and it carried, AGENDA ITEM ADDED Mr. McMahon noted receipt of an Excavation Bond for Michiana Mechanical after the posting of the meeting agenda and he made a motion that the bond be added to the agenda for consideration. Mr. Brunner seconded the motion and it carried. OPENING OF BIDS - VEHICLES. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT This was the date set for receiving bids for three vehicles for the Community Development Department. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and in the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: Harold Medow, Inc. Bid was signed by Stanley J. Pollyea, South Bend, Indiana non- collusion affidavit was in order and a 10% bid bond was submitted. Bid - One to Three 1979 Plymouth Volare 4 door sedans Unit Price - $4443.00 Trade In for 1972 Chevrolet - $200.00 Joe Hayden, Inc. Niles, Michigan Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone advised the Board that the non - collusion affidavit was not signed and notarized and that the bid did not contain a certified check as required for an out -of -state bidder or a bid bond. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the bid of Joe Hayden was rejected. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the bid of Harold Medow was referred to the Community Development Department for review and recommendation. CONTRACT APPROVED - OLIVE STREET CURB AND SIDEWALK IMPROVEMENTS A contract with Murdock and Sons for curb and sidewalk improvements at the southeast corner of Olive and Washington Streets was submitted to the Board for approval. The contract is in the amount of $11,299.25 and is in accordance with the bid accepted. The Performance and Labor and Materials Bond and Certificate of Insurance were submitted. Upon.motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr.Brunner and carried, the contract was approved and the bonds and insurance certificate filed.
