189 <br />REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 10, 1979 <br />BID ACCEPTED - CONCRETE IMPROVEMENTS, OLIVE AND WASHINGTON <br />The Board received a report from Carl Ellison, Director of the <br />Department of Redevelopment, that the bids received for curb and <br />sidewalk improvements at the southeast corner of Olive and Washington <br />had been reviewed and it was recommended that the low bid of <br />Murdock and Sons Construction of $11,300.00 be accepted. This <br />project was bid at the request of the Department of Redevelopment. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the recommendation was approved and the bid awarded to <br />Murdock and Sons Construction, subject to concurrence of the <br />Equal Employment Opportunity Officer with regard to contractor <br />eligibility. <br />SCRAP DEALER'S LICENSE APPROVED - NORTH SIDE IRON AND PAPER COMPANY <br />Assistant City Attorney James A. Masters reported to the Board that <br />he had reviewed the application of the Northside Iron and Paper <br />Company for a Scrap Dealer's License at 3123 Gertrude Street. <br />Mr. Masters noted that this application was submitted prior to the <br />enactment of recent amendments to the scrap and junk dealer's <br />license ordinance and should be processed in accordance with the <br />requirements of the ordinance prior to the amendments. The application <br />has been reviewed and the site approved by the Fire Inspection Bureau. <br />This location is one already licensed by another scrap dealer who <br />will be renting a part of his facility to Northside Iron and Paper <br />Company. Mr. Masters recommended approval of the application. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen.and carried, the <br />Board approved the application and referred it to the Deputy <br />Controller's Office for issuance of the license. <br />PETITION TO VACATE ALLEYS FILED - SOUTH BEND MEDICAL FOUNDATION <br />The South Bend Medical Foundation files a petition to vacate the <br />north -south alley between Lafayette Boulevard and Main Street, from <br />the south line of Navarre Street to a point ninety -nine feet south <br />and also the east -west alley between Navarre Street and Marion Street, <br />running east and west from the east line of Lafayette Blvd. to the <br />west line of the north -south alley between Lafayette and Main. <br />The purpose of the petition is to facilitate parking and expansion for <br />building purposes. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the petition was filed and referred to the <br />Engineering Department, Redevelopment Department and the Area Plan <br />Commission for preliminary review and recommendation. <br />PETITION TO VACATE CERTAIN LOTS FILED - LASALLE SQUARE ASSOCIATES <br />LaSalle Square Associates, by their attorney John Peddycord, files <br />a petition to vacate certain lots in Westchester Second Unit, including <br />lot and set back lines. The petition is in conjunction with the <br />commercial development in the area. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the petition was filed and <br />referred to the Engineering Department, Redevelopment Department <br />and the Area Plan Commission for preliminary review and recommendation. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - SALE OF 722 E. BROADWAY <br />The Board was advised by the Clerk that two requests have been <br />received regarding the purchase of a city -owned lot at 722 E. Broadway. <br />The lot has now been cleared for sale and an offering price established <br />at $787.00. It is now requested that the Board advertise for sealed <br />bids for the sale. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried., the Board approved advertising for the sale of <br />the lot, with sealed bids to be received on October 8, 1979. <br />
