184 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 4, 1979 <br />BID ACCEPTED - SALE OF RESIDUAL PROPERTY, MICHIGAN /MAIN CONNECTOR <br />This was the date set for receiving bids for the sale of <br />residual property acquired for the Michigan /Main Connector. The <br />Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and the Tri- County News which were found to be sufficient. <br />The bid invitation offered the parcels for sale at not less than <br />the offering prices for cash or, in the alternative, credit in <br />payments not to extend over a period of more than three years, <br />payable in equal quarterly installments with interest at the rate <br />of eight per cent. The following bid was opened and publicly read: <br />Robert Butt <br />Towers Motor Inn <br />423 N. Michigan Street <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Submitted a bid of $45,772.00 for Parcel A. The offering price <br />was $45,672.00. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Mullen and carried, the Board accepted the bid and awarded the <br />sale of Parcel A to the Towers Motor Inn. Mr. Butt was present <br />and indicated they would like to arrange for the sale on the <br />credit terms outlined in the legal advertisement. Mr. McMahon <br />noted that no bids were received for Parcel B and, since the <br />Parcel has now been offered for.sale on two occasions, the Board <br />may now negotiate the sale of the parcel to an interested purchaser. <br />HOUSE MOVE APPROVED - 741 S. OLIVE TO 1933 S. MEADE <br />The Board received notification from James Markle, Building <br />Commissioner, that Lykowski Construction Company has applied for a <br />permit to move a structure from 741 S. Olive Street to 1922 South <br />Meade Street. Adjacent property owners have been advised of the <br />move. The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting has reviewed the route <br />and recommends approval, subject to arrangements to be coordinated <br />with that Bureau and the Police Department at least forty -eight <br />hours in advance. There was no one present to speak on the house <br />move. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen <br />and carried, the public hearing was closed and the Board approved <br />the house move, subject to the requirements of the Bureau of <br />Traffic and Lighting, the Police' Department and the Building <br />Department. <br />BID AWARDED - SHEET AND BEARING PILING, FIRST BANK CENTER <br />The Board received a recommendation from Solli_tt Construction <br />Company, Construction Manager for the First Bank Center, that <br />following a review of the bids received for Sheet and Bearing <br />Piling for the First Bank Center, the low bid of Thatcher <br />Engineering Should be accepted.. Thatcher Engineering has <br />submitted letters verifying the combined bid price and procedures <br />to be followed. The letters were filed. Mr. McMahon noted that <br />the bid price is within the budgeted amount of $750,000 for this <br />portion of the project, without going into .the contingency fund. <br />Based on this fact and the recommendation received, Mr. McMahon <br />made a motion to award the bid for Sheet and Bearin Piling <br />to the Thatcher Engineering Company for a total of 185,930.00, <br />subject to the contractor's eligibiLity clearance by the E.E.O. Office. <br />
