179 <br />`REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 27, 1979 <br />REQUEST FOR MARATHON FILED <br />The Board received a request from John Adams High School to hold <br />a Mini - Marathon on Sunday, October 14 starting at 2:00 p.m. The <br />proposed route was submitted for review. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request <br />was filed and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and <br />the Police Department for review and recommendation. <br />GUIDELINES FOR WALKATHONS AND BIKE- A -THONS REVISED <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department <br />Traffic Detail recommended that the Board consider revising its' <br />Guidelines for Walkathons and Bike -A -Thous to include Marathons, <br />thus requiring six. months advance notice for such events and <br />coordinating activities so there is at least two weeks between <br />events. The recommendation is based on the time required for review <br />of routes and the scheduling of manpower. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board approved <br />the amending of the Guidelines for Walkathons and Bike- A -Thons <br />to include Marathons. Organizations which have sponsored Marathons <br />in the past will be notified of this change in procedure. <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - DUNHAM STREET <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reported that the request of <br />the West Side Democratic Club to close Dunham Street, from Warren to <br />Carlisle, on Monday, September 3 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for a <br />Labor Day Picnic had been reviewed with the Police Department and <br />approval is recommended, Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - WOLDHAVEN DRIVE <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reported that the request of <br />Diana Singleton to close Woldhaven Drive, from Lancaster to Chippewa, <br />on Saturday, September 1 from 2:00 p.m. to 12 :00 p.m. had been <br />reviewed with the Police Department and approval is recommended, <br />with the participants to be requested to keep one driving lane open <br />at all times. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - WOODLAWN BOULEVARD <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reported that the request of <br />James Caldwell to close the 1200 block Woodlawn Boulevard, between <br />Hollywood Place and Parkview Place, on Sunday, September 2 from <br />12:00 noon to 12:00 midnight, had been reviewed with the Police Department <br />and approval is recommended. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - O'BRIEN STREET <br />The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reported that the request of <br />Patricia Blount to close the 1400 block N O'Brien Street, from <br />Elwood to Bulla, from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, September <br />1, 1979 had been reviewed with the Police Department and approval <br />is recommended. Upon motion made by Mr. Mullen, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the recommendation was approved. <br />
