170 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 20. 1979 <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - CURB IMPROVEMENTS, OLIVE AND WASHINGTON <br />John E. Leszczynski, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction, <br />requested permission to advertise for bids for curb improvements <br />at the southeast corner of Olive and Washington at the request of the <br />Department of Redevelopment. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request to advertise <br />was approved. <br />PROPOSAL FOR COLFAX BRIDGE REPLACEMENT DETOUR STUDY APPROVED <br />The Board received a proposal from Cole Associates to perform <br />engineering services associated with the development of alternate <br />detours during the period when the Colfax bridge is closed for <br />reconstruction. The proposal is in conjunction with an existing <br />contract for services and is not to exceed $4000. Mr. McMahon <br />noted such a study is needed because of new traffic patterns, <br />streets and signalization since the bridge was last closed in <br />1973. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the proposal was accepted. <br />BID AWARDED — CENTURY CENTER COOLER AND FREEZER <br />Brian Hedman, Executive Director of Century Center, submitted to <br />the Board a report of the review of the only bid received for <br />modifications and additions to the walk -in cooler and freezer. <br />The bid was reviewed by Century Center and Fred Graeber, Engineering <br />Consultant for the Hotel -Motel Tax Board, and was found to be <br />acceptable. Money has been appropriated by the Hotel -Motel Tax <br />Board for the purchase. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the bid was accepted in the amount <br />of $14,239.00 as submitted by the Harry W. Johnson Company, <br />subject to confirmation of approval of the funding. <br />FILING OF ASSESSMENT ROLL VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3476 <br />Patrick M. McMahon, Civil City Engineer, files an Assessment Roll <br />with respect to Vacation Resolution No. 3476 for the vacation of <br />the first alley south of Mishawaka Avenue, running east and west <br />between 30th and 31st Streets, excepting therefrom the 16' <br />right -of -way of the north -south alley intersection. The Assessment <br />Roll lists $0.00 net damages and $0.00 net benefits to the <br />adjacent properties. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the Assessment Roll was filed and set <br />for public hearing on September 17, 1979. <br />CANOPY AT WESTERN STATE BANK APPROVED <br />The Board received a report from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />that a request to install a canopy over the public right of way <br />at the Western State Bank at 1222 Western Avenue was received <br />and referred to the Indiana State Highway Commission. The Highway <br />Commission has advised that there is no action required by that <br />body for the installation. Mr. Wadzinski of the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting recommended approval of the installation, subject to <br />the requirements of the Board and the Building Department. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the installation of the canopy was approved, subject to the filing <br />of the required Certificate of Insurance and securing a permit <br />from the Building Department. <br />
