REGULAR MEETING 151 JULY 30. 1979 Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board accepted the low proposal of Indiana Terminix Company of $368.70 for pigeon control at the viaduct at Western and Walnut. REPORT REGARDING COMPLAINT IN 500 BLOCK BLAINE AVENUE A complaint regarding children playing in the street in the 500 block Blaine Avenue was referred to the Police Department and the Legal Department. The Police Department submitted a report saying that within the last three months there were six calls to the area, but no official reports. Captain Mitchem of the Police Department suggested that if people living in the area have a complaint they should insist the officers making the calls make an official report. In this way the proper authorities will be aware of the situation and can do something about it. Mr. Brunner noted that the Legal Department has not yet submitted their report. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the report was filed. MARATHON RUN APPROVED - ST. ADALBERT'S CHURCH Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported that the request of St. Adalbert's Church to hold a Marathon Run on Sunday, August 19 at 6 :00 p.m. had been reviewed with the Police Department. The route was approved with one minor change. The start /finish line will be in the block of Huron just east of Olive instead of on Olive Street as originally requested and that block will be closed to traffic. The Church has agreed to the change. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Marathon Race was approved. BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - 2300 BLOCK HOLLYWOOD PLACE Ralph J. reported the 2300 to 9:00 approval seconded Wadzinski, Manager of to the Board that the block Hollywood Place 3.m. had been reviewed is recommended. Upon by Mr. Brunner and ca .the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, request of residents to block on August 25 from 12:00 noon with the Police Department and motion made by Mr. McMahon, rried, the block party was approved. BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - 1300 -1400 BLOCK SOUTH STREET Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported to the Board that the request of residents to block the 1300 -1400 block South Street on Friday, August 17 (rain date of August 18) from 5:00 p.m. to midnight had been reviewed with the Police Department and approval is recommended. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the block party was approved. BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - CREST AVENUE Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, reported to the Board that the request of residents to block Crest Avenue, between Southeast and Altgeld, on August 4 from 12:00 noon to midnight had been reviewed with the Police Department and approval is recommended. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the block party was approved.
