150 REGULAR MEETING JULY 30, 1979 REQUEST ENCROACHMENT ON PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY — RAILWAY EXPRESS BUILDING ON SOUTH STREET The Board received a request from Smith -White Company, who is in the process of purchasing the Railway Express building on W. South Street. They will be placing a prefabricated concrete panel wall along the property line and extending up to cover the present unsightly truck dock area and the concrete railing wall at the roof. There is one foot available between the property line along South.Street and the above mentioned railing wall to place the new wall. The minimum dimension of the wall panels is a 3" slab and 12" ribs for a total of 15 ". Therefore, they are requesting permission to allow the ribs to over hang the public sidewalk for a total of 3 ". Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board referred the request to the Building Depart- ment and Engineering Department for review and recommendation. BID AWARDED - TIRE REPAIRS FOR CITY VEHICLES The Board received a recommendation from Louis Grounds, Manager of Vehicle Maintenance, that the low bid of Firestone, Inc. be accepted for tire repairs for city vehicles. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the low bid of Firestone, Inc. for tire repairs was accepted. REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY - 4700 BLOCK JAMESTOWN COURT The Board received a request from Richard Thomas to hold a Block Party in the 4700 block of Jamestown Court on Saturday, August 11 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request.was filed and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department for review and recommendation. REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY - 1000 BLOCK OAK STREET - The Board received a request from Mrs. Linda Johnson to hold a Block Party in the 1000 block of Oak Street, from Allen to Sherman on Saturday, August 11, with a rain date of August 12, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was filed and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department for review and recommendation. REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY - 1900 S. RUSH The Board received a request from Bob Banacka to hold a Block Party in the 1900 block S. Rush Street on Saturday, August 25. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the request was filed and referred to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department for review and recommendation. PIGEON CONTROL, VIADUCT AT WESTERN AND WALNUT - PROPOSAL ACCEPTED The Board of Public Works received the following proposals for pigeon control at the viaduct at Western Avenue and Walnut Street Arrow Services $725.00 Indiana Terminix Co. Initial $181.20 2 mo. @ 30.00 per month 3 Qtly. @ 42.50 each TOTAL 368.70 Franklin Pest Control $420.00
