144 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />RIVER BEND PLAZA REQUESTS APPROVED <br />JULY 23, 1979 <br />Michele Dobski, Director of River Bend Plaza, submitted the <br />following applications from merchants for participation in <br />Downtown Sidewalk Days July 27 and 28:, Sonneborn's Sport Shop, Horizons, <br />Rasmussen's Men's Shop, Robertson's, Mueller Jewelers, Hall <br />of Cards and Books, Tennis Corner, Osco's, New York Fashions.. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the applications were approved, subject to the filing <br />of certificates of insurance and securing vending licenses. <br />TITLE SHEET APPROVED - SHELL OIL SANITARY SEWER <br />The Bureau of Design and Administration submitted to the Board the <br />title sheet approving the plans for the Shell Oil Sanitary Sewer, <br />Western Avenue at Mayflower. The work will be done in accordance <br />with City specifications. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Mullen and carried, the title sheet approving the plans <br />was signed. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - DE- ICING CHEMICALS <br />Patrick M. McMahon, Director of Public Works, made a verbal request <br />for authorization to advertise for bids for salt and de -icing <br />chemicals. He noted the request is earlier than usual this year <br />but indications are there will be a substantial increase in price <br />this year and he would like bids received as soon as possible. <br />Specifications are being prepared. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was approved. <br />CLAIMS APPROVED <br />Chief Deputy City Controller Michael L. Vance submitted to the <br />Board Claim Docket Numbers 13958 through 14717 and recommended <br />approval. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Brunner and carried, the Board approved Claim Docket Numbers <br />13958 through 14717 and directed that checks for payment be issued. <br />STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED <br />The Street Light Outage Report for the period July 9 through <br />July 17 was submitted to the Board. The report indicated thirty - <br />four outages. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mx. <br />Brunner and carried, the report was ordered filed. <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - E. WASHINGTON STREET <br />The Board received a request from Mrs. Robert Peltz to hold a <br />Block Party in the 1300 block East Washington on Wednesday, July <br />25 from 5:00 p.m. to midnight. The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting <br />reviewed the request with the Police Department and recommended <br />approval. Upon motion made by,Mr, McMahon, seconded by Mr. <br />Mullen and carried, the Block Party was approved.. <br />OPEN AIR STAND APPROVED CONDITIONALLY <br />An Open Air Stand application was submitted by Lonnie Harrison <br />for the sale of tropical plants. Mr. Harrison is in the process <br />of securing a private property location for the sale and is <br />requesting conditional approval, based on a suitable location being <br />secured. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the application was approved, subject to the Board <br />receiving the written permission of a private property owner for <br />operation of the stand and approval by the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting. <br />
