4 2 <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 25, 1979 <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and <br />carried, the applications were approved, subject to the filing <br />of the necessary certificates of insurance and Health Department <br />permits. <br />Street Closings and Traffic Control /Parking: <br />Supergraphic to be closed from June 28 to July 2 - both blocks. <br />Free Parking in the Colfax Parking Garage, Main and Colfax <br />Free Parking in all City -owned surface lots (except Lot 1) <br />Washington St. Closed at the Plaza, June 30 and July 1 <br />Use of City Lot #1 for stage and audience seating June 30 and July 1 <br />A variety of musical and dancing entertainment will be provided <br />throughout the two days of the Festival. <br />July 4 - Street Closings: Washington, from St. Joseph to Main, <br />Colfax from Sycamore to Main, and St. Joseph from <br />Wayne to LaSalle. <br />A flat -rate parking fee of 75(� in the City Garages for <br />the Fireworks Display. Garages will be opened at <br />6:00 p.m. <br />Upon motion made by Mr, McMahon, seconded by Mr, Brunner and <br />carried, the recommendations were approved, <br />APPROVAL OF CONTRACT FOR FIREWORKS <br />The Princess Fireworks Company submitted for approval a contract <br />to provide the Fourth of July.Fireworks Display on River Bend <br />Plaza. The contract is in the total amount of $7,000.00. The <br />State Fire Marshal's Permit and Certificate of Insurance were <br />submitted with the contract. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the contract was approved, <br />subject to approval of the funding by the Common Council. <br />FILING OF ASSESSMENT ROLL, VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3474 <br />Patrick M. McMahon, Civil City Engineer, files an Assessment Roll <br />with respect to Vacation Resolution No. 3474, 1979 for the vacation <br />of the 14' alley which abuts the North side of the Cathedral of <br />St. James and runs east and west from Lafayette Blvd. to St. James <br />Court. The Assessment Roll lists $0.,00 Net Benefits and $0.00 Net <br />Damages to the abutting properties. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Assessment Roll <br />was filed and set for public hearing on July 23, 1979. <br />BID REJECTED - FINANCING OF FIRE DEPART14ENT SNORKEL <br />Chief Deputy Controller Michael L. Vance submitted to the Board <br />a report on his review of the only bid received for the interest <br />rate on the lease /purchase of a Fire Department Snorkel. The bid <br />of Nat -Lea, Inc. was in the amount of ten per cent. Mr. Vance <br />noted he did not feel the bid was representative of the current <br />market interest rates and recommended it be rejected. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board <br />rejected the bid and authorized Mr. Vance to negotiate.for the <br />financing since the Board has advertised twice for bids for the <br />interest rate. <br />
