4 2 REGULAR MEETING JUNE 25, 1979 Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the applications were approved, subject to the filing of the necessary certificates of insurance and Health Department permits. Street Closings and Traffic Control /Parking: Supergraphic to be closed from June 28 to July 2 - both blocks. Free Parking in the Colfax Parking Garage, Main and Colfax Free Parking in all City -owned surface lots (except Lot 1) Washington St. Closed at the Plaza, June 30 and July 1 Use of City Lot #1 for stage and audience seating June 30 and July 1 A variety of musical and dancing entertainment will be provided throughout the two days of the Festival. July 4 - Street Closings: Washington, from St. Joseph to Main, Colfax from Sycamore to Main, and St. Joseph from Wayne to LaSalle. A flat -rate parking fee of 75(� in the City Garages for the Fireworks Display. Garages will be opened at 6:00 p.m. Upon motion made by Mr, McMahon, seconded by Mr, Brunner and carried, the recommendations were approved, APPROVAL OF CONTRACT FOR FIREWORKS The Princess Fireworks Company submitted for approval a contract to provide the Fourth of July.Fireworks Display on River Bend Plaza. The contract is in the total amount of $7,000.00. The State Fire Marshal's Permit and Certificate of Insurance were submitted with the contract. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the contract was approved, subject to approval of the funding by the Common Council. FILING OF ASSESSMENT ROLL, VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3474 Patrick M. McMahon, Civil City Engineer, files an Assessment Roll with respect to Vacation Resolution No. 3474, 1979 for the vacation of the 14' alley which abuts the North side of the Cathedral of St. James and runs east and west from Lafayette Blvd. to St. James Court. The Assessment Roll lists $0.,00 Net Benefits and $0.00 Net Damages to the abutting properties. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Assessment Roll was filed and set for public hearing on July 23, 1979. BID REJECTED - FINANCING OF FIRE DEPART14ENT SNORKEL Chief Deputy Controller Michael L. Vance submitted to the Board a report on his review of the only bid received for the interest rate on the lease /purchase of a Fire Department Snorkel. The bid of Nat -Lea, Inc. was in the amount of ten per cent. Mr. Vance noted he did not feel the bid was representative of the current market interest rates and recommended it be rejected. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board rejected the bid and authorized Mr. Vance to negotiate.for the financing since the Board has advertised twice for bids for the interest rate.
