96
REGULAR MEETING JUNE 25, 1979
Mr. Brunner pointed out that the Board's concern is not with the
violations, which are minor, but with the fact that they were
not listed on the application and he asked Mr, Howard for the
reason they were not listed. Mr. Howard said he did not associate
them with crimes. Mr. Brunner said he would take the position
that Mr. Howard should reapply for the license and would suggest
very strongly that those matters which are of record as well as
suspensions of his license be noted on the application. These
are not the type of offenses that would prevent the Board from
approving the license, but the Board is concerned that he answer
all questions on the application truthfully if he reapplies. The
application will then be considered on its merits. Mr. Roper and
Mr. Howard.thanked the Board for hearing this matter and indicated
that a new application had been filed.
COMPLAINT - WALTER SZYMKOWIAK
Councilman Walter Szymkowiak submitted a complaint from residents
of the Harvey St., Birner St. and Blaine Avenue area regarding
unruly children playing in the streets, debris and trash, profane
language and loud stereos playing late at night. He noted that
many of the addresses where the complaints originate are rental
properties and the landlords take no interest in the property.
Mr. Szymkowiak referred to 503, 505, 511 and 513 Blaine Avenue
where problems are occurring. He asked that the Board take
action to help the property owners in the area maintain their
neighborhood. He noted that this is an old neighborhood and the
residents are proud of their properties and are trying to upgrade
the neighborhood. Mr. Szymkowiak noted that a similar situation
exists at the southeast corner of LaSalle and Chapin.Streets. The
Board thanked Councilman Szymkowiak for bringing the matter to
its attention and referred the complaints to the Legal Department
and the Police Department for review and recommendation.
REQUEST TO USE OLD FIRE STATION EIGHT DENIED
The Board received a letter from Fire Chief Oscar Van Wiele advising
that he had reviewed the request of A.C.T.I.O.N., Inc. to lease
old Fire Station Eight for the LaSalle - Fillmore Center.
