REGULAR MEETING JUNE 18, 1979 <br />FILING OF PETITION TO VACATE ALLEY GOSPEL CENTER CHURCH <br />The Gospel Center Church files a petition to vacate the east <br />west alley south of Mishawaka Avenue running between 30th <br />and 31st Streets. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by <br />Mr. Brunner and carried, the petition was filed and referred to <br />the Engineering.Department, Community Development Department <br />and the Area Plan Commission for review and recommendation. <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - SALE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY <br />The Board was advised that city -owned properties at 2005 W. <br />Indiana.Avenue and 230 Embell Court have been cleared for sale by <br />various City departments and by the Common Council. The properties <br />have been appraised and offering prices established. In each case, <br />more than one person has submitted a written request to purchase <br />the lot. In accordance with the Municipal Code, the property is <br />now to be offered for sale by sealed bid. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the Board authorized <br />advertising the two lots for sale with sealed bids to be accepted <br />at not less than the offering price. <br />LETTER RE: PLAZA PARK SALE FILED <br />The Board received a letter from James Seitz, Park Superintendent, <br />regarding the proposed sale of Plaza Park. The property was adver- <br />tised for sale on two occasions with no bids having been received. <br />The Park Board is interested in selling the property and would be <br />willing to discuss a negotiated price. Mr. McMahon noted that the <br />property could be sold for less than the appraised value subject to <br />approval of the Common Council. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the letter was filed and the <br />Board indicated that any interested purchasers should contact Mr. . <br />Seitz to discuss the matter. <br />ABANDONED VEHICLE BID ACCEPTED <br />Deputy City Controller Michael L. Vance reported to the Board that <br />the bid received for the sale of two hundred abandoned vehicles <br />towed to the Olive Street lot had been reviewed. The bid of <br />Bremen Iron and Metal Company of $8,040.00 for the vehicles was <br />the low and only bid received. Upon motion made by Mr, McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the bid was accepted. <br />PROMISE TO INSURE COPY MACHINE APPROVED <br />Nat -Lea, Inc., leasing the twelfth floor copy machine to the City, <br />has requested that the Board provide a Certificate of Insurance <br />for the equipment. Deputy City Attorney Terry A. Crone drafted <br />for the Board's signature a Promise to Insure document. Upon motion <br />made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the <br />following agreement was approved: <br />PROMISE TO INSURE <br />Because the copy machine used on the Twelfth Floor of the County <br />City Building is the subject of a lease between Nat -Lea, Inc. <br />of South Bend, Lessor, and the City of South Bend, Lessee, is to be <br />used by the City of South Bend and because the City of South Bend <br />will benefit thereby, the City of South Bend hereby promises and <br />agrees that should such copy machine be damaged o -r_-destroyed by any <br />
