6'7 <br />REGULAR MEETING MAY 29, 1979 <br />BLOCK PARTY APPROVED - 500 E WOODSIDE <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and <br />Lighting, reported to the Board that the request of residents <br />to hold a Block Party in the 500 block E. Woodside, from <br />Fellows to Erskine, had been reviewed with the Police Department <br />and there was no objection to the closing. Upon motion made by <br />Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the Block <br />Party was approved. <br />TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES APPROVED <br />Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, <br />recommended installation of the following traffic control <br />devices: <br />A. No Parking This Side, West side of Franklin, from Stull <br />to Broadway, at the request of the Police Department <br />to improve driving lanes on this narrow street. <br />B. Revise Yield Sign to Stop Sign at 1300 W. Ewing, the exit <br />from Storyland Zoo, at the request of the Park Department. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and <br />carried, the recommendations were approved. <br />REQUEST FOR DEMOLITION OF STRUCTURE REFERRED TO SUB - STANDARD <br />The Board received a letter from Councilman Walter Kopczynski <br />advising them of a burned -out structure at 533 S. Chicago where <br />there has been no action taken to demolish, repair or clean up <br />the property for over two years. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the letter was referred to <br />the Sub - Standard Building Department with the request that immediate <br />action be taken regarding the structure. <br />HANDICAPPED PARKING PERMITS APPROVED <br />The Board received a request from Edward Shelton, 913 Leland <br />Avenue, and Helen Lindstaedt, 54756 Charles Street, for Handicapped <br />Parking Permits. Doctor's Statements have been submitted. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, <br />the Applications were approved and referred to the Controller's <br />Office for issuance of the permits. <br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHTS ON E. JEFFERSON BLVD. RECEIVED <br />The Board received an inquiry from Mrs. S. Fraas Wood, 1815 East <br />Jefferson, regarding why there are no street lights in the area on <br />East Jefferson, between Greenlawn and Ironwood. Mrs. Wood <br />submitted a map. showing the position of other street lights in the <br />area and asked that consideration be given to the installation of <br />lights. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen <br />and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau of Traffic <br />and Lighting with the request that an estimate be prepared showing <br />the cost of installing colonial -type street lights in the area. <br />TEMPORARY ALLEY CLOSING AT. ST. JAMES CATHEDRAL APPROVED <br />The Cathedral of St: James requested the temporary closing of the <br />alley north of the Cathedral from Lafayette Boulevard west to <br />the intersecting alley on May 30 and 31 in connection with.a `- <br />seminar. The Bureau of Traffic and Lighting reviewed the request <br />and has no objection. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Mr. Brunner and carried, the temporary closing was approved. <br />
