56 <br />REGULAR MEETING 14AY 21, 1979 <br />City through an Economic Development Bond but title will revert <br />to the partnership and Mr. Crone has indicated that the partnership <br />should deed the property to the City, Upon 'motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the legal description <br />was amended as recommended. Bernard Bailey,- 224 N. St. Peter, <br />said he objected to the vacation and noted that he has lived at <br />that address most of his life and uses the alley. He noted that <br />it has been plugged the past couple of weeks by construction <br />equipment and it is an inconvenience. He noted there are other <br />areas where alleys have been vacated to provide parking, the <br />people have left the alley open for public access through the <br />parking lot. Donald Hartke, 218 N. St. Peter Street, advised the <br />Board that he and his father operate a paint store at that address <br />and receive regular deliveries from semi - trailers. Since the alley <br />has been blocked by construction materials, thesem`s leave the <br />material on St. Peter Street and he must move it into his building <br />a distance of more than one hundred and fifty feet. He said this <br />is causing a problem for him. Delivery trucks would prefer to <br />come directly into the alley. Mr, McMahon said he was concerned <br />about the semi - trucks blocking St, Peter Street to make deliveries <br />and he suggested that Mr, Peddycord meet with Mr. Hartke and Mr. <br />Bailey to discuss whether or not access'to the property could be <br />retained. Mr, Peddycord agreed to meet with them to discuss the <br />matter. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner <br />and carried, the matter was tabled and the public hearing continued <br />until Mr. Peddycord advises the Board of the outcome of his meeting <br />with Mr. Bailey and Mr. Hartke. <br />CONTRACT WITH WYVERN RESEARCH ASSOCIATES APPROVED <br />John Cimino, Coordinator for the Police Merit Promotional Plan, <br />submitted to the Board a contract with Wyvern Research Associates <br />for the next Police Performance Evaluation. The contract is <br />similar to the previous contract entered into and provides for the <br />cost to evaluate each officer to be no more than $18.00. Funds <br />for the contract have been encumbered. Upon motion made by Mr. <br />McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the contract was <br />approved. <br />REQUEST TO USE FIRE TRUCK IN PARADE APPROVED <br />Chief Oscar Van Wiele submitted to the Board the request of the <br />West Side Memorial Parade Committee to use a.reserve engine in <br />their annual parade to be held on Monday, May 28. Chief Van <br />Wiele recommended approval. Upon motion made by Mr McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was approved. <br />SALE OF ABANDONED VEHICLES AUTHORIZED <br />Ted Latkowski, Environmental Control Officer, advised the Board <br />that there are approximately two hundred abandoned vehicles <br />which have been towed to the City Lot at 915 S. Olive Street. <br />The vehicles are valued at less than $100 and.can now be- dis.poaed <br />of in accordance with the Abandoned Vehicle Ordinance. Upon <br />motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the Board authorized advertising for the sale of the vehicles. <br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS - PAINTING OF COLFAX GARAGE <br />Peter H. Mullen, City Controller, requested that the Board approve <br />advertising for bids for the painting of the Colfax Parking <br />Garage. Specifications are being prepared and will be filed with <br />the Board.
