Mullen, City Controller, submitted to the Board a contract
between the City of South Bend and John T. Lentz to provide
accounting services for Century Center. Mr. Mullen noted that Mr.
Lentz has been assistant controller and has been responsible for
accounting procedures for Century Center since its operation. He
has established a double -entry accounting procedure and maintained
the procedure required by the State Board of Accounts. In order to
maintain continuity in the system, Mr. Mullen recommended that the
Board approve this contract through December 31, 1979 since Mr.
Lentz has left City employment but is willing to continue to.provide
this function. A decision will be made as to whether to hire someone
within the Controller's Office to provide this function or to
continue the contract. The contract calls for payment of $8.00 per
hour, not to exceed a total of $3,000.00. It is estimated Mr.
Lentz will average ten hours per week. Upon motion made by Mr.
McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the contract was
approved.
CJ
