I <br />REGULAR MEETING MARCH 26, 1979 <br />BID ADVERTISING APPROVED - PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS <br />John E. Leszczynski, Manager of the Bureau of Public Construction, <br />submitted a request to advertise for bids for R & S 7904, the <br />Ironwood and Pleasant Intersection Improvements, CD -79 -1, <br />Indiana Avenue and Chapin Street Improvements, and the Chapin, <br />Jefferson, Portage and York Road Intersection and Island <br />Improvements. Detailed specifications are being prepared and <br />will be filed with the Board. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, <br />seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, the request was approved <br />and bid advertising dates will be established upon receipt of <br />the specifications. <br />SUBGRANT MODIFICATION APPROVED - SOUTH BEND COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION <br />Elroy Kelzenberg, Director of the Bureau of Manpower and Training, <br />submitted to the Board a modification to the Subgrant Agreement <br />between the Bureau and the South Bend Community School Corporation. <br />The modification extends the date of the subgrant to April 30, 1979 <br />and increases the funding by $1,490 to a new level of $18,960, <br />to extend the basic education component at Darden School. <br />Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the request was approved. <br />REQUESTS TO PURCHASE CITY -OWNED LOTS RECEIVED <br />The Board received the following requests to purchase city -owned <br />properties: <br />A. C. J. Derda - 677 LaPorte Avenue <br />B. William Hines - Log 9, Winsmans and Rush's Addition <br />Upon motion made- by -Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Mullen and carried, <br />the requests were filed and referred to the Engineering Department, <br />Park Department, Community Development Department and the Mayor's <br />Office for review and a determination as to whether the lots should <br />be retained for any purpose. <br />REQUEST FOR PARADE RECEIVED <br />LaSalle Landing Lodge #298, B.P.O.E., requested permission to <br />hold a parade on Sunday, June 10th at 2:00 p.m, beginning at the <br />Quality Inn and proceeding to the Lodge at 1001 W. Western Avenue <br />on a route submitted. Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded <br />by Per. Mullen and carried, the request was referred to the Bureau <br />of Traffic and Lighting and the Police Department Traffic Detail <br />for review and recommendation. <br />OPEN AIR STAND APPROVED - OLIVE AND SAMPLE <br />An Application for an Open Air Stand at Olive and Sample Streets <br />was tabled by the Board pending receipt of additional information <br />from the applicant, LaVerne Przygocki, as to the commercial <br />location for the distribution and storage of flowers to be sold. <br />Mrs. Przygocki submitted a signed statement to the Board indicating <br />that she is renting premises at 529 E. LaSalle for the storage <br />and distribution of flowers and will not use the premises at <br />1715 Portage Avenue for this use. The Board has on file a signed <br />statement from Mrs. Przygocki that the premises at 1715 Portage <br />Avenue will not be used forthe storage or distribution of flowers <br />or fireworks. The Board was advised that Mrs. Przygocki has a <br />receipt for the rental of the premises at 529 E. LaSalle for the <br />month of April. Deputy City Attorney Terry Crone advised the Board <br />that he discussed this matter with James Masters and Mr. Masters <br />
