Funding: Street Department Capital <br />Therefore, Mr. Littrell made a motion that the recommendations be accepted and the bids be <br />awarded as outlined above. Mr. Inks seconded the motion, which carried. <br />AWARD BIDS - 2010 STREET MATERIALS <br />Mr. Rob Nichols, Engineering, advised the Board that on March 22, 2010, bids were received <br />and opened for the above materials. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Nichols recommended that <br />the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidders in unit prices as <br />follows: <br />1. Company: Walsh & Kelly, Inc. <br />a) Award: Limestone, Slag, and Sasobit (Bid Items 1 - 26 and 36) <br />2. Company: Kuert Concrete <br />a} Award: Concrete and Flowable Fill {Bid Items 27 - 35) <br />3. Company: Bit Mat Products of Indiana, Inc. <br />a} Award: Asphalt Emulsion Materials (Bid Items 37 - 42) <br />4. Company: Klink Trucking, Inc. <br />a) Award: Aggregate Materials (Bid Items 43 - 46) <br />Therefore, upon a motion by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the <br />recommendation for bid awards as outlined above was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF CONTRACTOR PRE-pUALIFICATION RECOMMENDATIONS - <br />STUDEBAKER AREA A DEMOLITION PHASE IV - PROJECT NO 109-032 <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl Littrell, Engineering, presented a report containing the <br />results of DLZ Indiana's review of the contractor submittals opened February 8, 2010, for the <br />above referenced project. Mr. Andy Lemberis, DLZ, was present and stated they evaluated the <br />submittals based on experience, bonding capacity, and references. The thirty contractors selected <br />are recommended to be allowed to bid as prime contractors. He noted those that dad not make the <br />list can still bid as sub-contractors. Board Attorney, Cheryl Greene, stated she had reviewed the <br />report and is comfortable with DLZ's recommendations. She noted that if there was any doubt <br />whatsoever on the qualifications of a particular contractor, we went even further to check on <br />their qualifications than we had to. Out of thirty-six (36) contractors, the following thirty (30) <br />(based on two partnerships) meet requirements set forth by the City of South Bend and DLZ <br />Indiana: <br />
