<br /> <br />IX.Comments by the Zoo Director <br />1. Mr. DeRosa reported that during the recent Communiversity event volunteers from Notre <br />Dame cleaned at the Zoo, park, and greenhouse and did a great job. <br />2. The South Bend Tribune’s Reader’s Choice Awards chose the Zoo as the best place to take <br />your kids. <br />3. The Zoo opened April 1 and had 4,408 visitors. <br /> <br /> <br />X.Comments by Maintenance Superintendent <br /> <br /> <br />1.Mr. Dyszkiewicz reported that mowing and trash removal have started in the parks. <br /> <br />2.Bathrooms are being opened. <br /> <br />3.Rebuilding Together and Communiversity were very successful. <br /> <br />4.Quotes for tennis and basketball repairs are being put together for next month’s meeting. <br /> <br />5.Graffiti removal is underway. The new Chris Wilson Pavilion was painted with graffiti <br /> <br />over the weekend, rather heavily. A crew is there today cleaning up. <br /> <br />6.The Jefferson bridge wall project is on hold while repair options are being studied. <br /> <br />7.The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant will add five employees to the <br /> <br />Maintenance Division. <br /> <br />8.Tennis courts have been removed at River Manor park. A half court basketball court was <br /> <br />added. <br /> <br />9.Paving by the Street Department will be done at Erskine and LaSalle Park. <br /> <br />10.Mr. Dyszkiewicz requested the Board to award the roof repair at Leeper Park to <br /> <br />Lawmasters in the amount of $30,500. <br />Mr. Goodrich made a motion to approve the Lawmasters recommendation by Mr. <br />Dyszkiewicz in the amount of $30,500. Dr. Kelly seconded the motion and it was passed. <br /> <br /> <br />XI.Comments by the Development Director <br /> <br /> <br />1.Mr. Payton reported that a University of Wisconsin student group stopped on their way to <br />Washington DC and cleaned at Rum Village for four hours. <br /> <br />2.Kohls employees also worked at Rum Village and in addition made a $1,000 donation. <br /> <br />3.The annual report will be done for the next meeting. <br /> <br />4.Ms. Barbara Warner has made a donation to cover the cost of the concert series at <br />Potawatomi Park at the Chris Wilson Pavilion. <br />He requested the Board accept the donation on behalf of the Department. Dr. Kelly made <br />the motion and Mr. Goodrich seconded it and it was passed. <br /> <br />5.The Summer Activity Guide is being compiled. It will be distributed the second week of <br />May to schools and libraries. <br /> <br />6.Golf advertising is ongoing as a collaborative effort with Blackthorn. <br /> <br />7.Online registration is moving forward.
