totaling $746,534.07. It was seconded by Mr. Mullins. There being no further discussion, the <br />motion was passed. <br /> <br /> <br />VII.Business of Director St. Clair <br /> <br />1. Director St. Clair informed the Board that Sue Stephenson, a long time employee in the <br />Recreation Division and in the Administrative Office, passed away this morning. She will <br />be missed. <br />2. He gave the Board an updated list of phase one Coveleski capital projects that were <br />recently approved by the Redevelopment Commission. <br />3. He reported that tomorrow he is going to the Area Plan Commission meeting. The zoning <br />of the Code Enforcement Animal Shelter that is on Park land will be on the agenda. <br />4. Improvements at the Conservatory are being formulated. They include taking down <br />existing growing houses, installing new heating, upgrading restrooms, and adding parking. <br />5. The City has received a $353,000 grant through REAL Services. This is an American <br />Reinvestment and Recovery Act grant and it will be going before the Common Council for <br />appropriation next Monday. Actual hiring will begin the following Tuesday. It will be <br />used to hire forty seasonal employees. <br />6. Communiversity Day was held a week ago last Saturday. This was a service day for Notre <br />Dame students and they worked in several parks cleaning and landscaping. Ms. Ann <br />Puzello was instrumental in setting up the project. Mr. Dyszkiewicz provided tools and <br />guidance for the students. <br />7. Rebuilding Together was held last Saturday. Twenty-five park employees participated in <br />various projects through out the City. He thanked the staff for their efforts in this annual <br />project. <br /> <br /> <br />VIII.Comments by the Golf Operations Director <br /> <br />1. Mr. Nowacki commented that March 16 was opening day. <br />2. The new fee structure has received positive feedback from patrons. <br />3. The new website is running now. WWW.Elbelgolf.com and www.Erskinegolf.com. <br />4. The high school golf teams that use our courses as home courses are doing four hours of <br />clean up and service at the courses. <br />5. New directional signs are up for Elbel at various locations. <br />6. The retention pond project on hole #6 at Elbel is almost completed. <br />7. The parking lot at Erskine will be paved by the Street Department this summer. <br />8. The well at Elbel will be cleaned next week because of high iron content in the water. <br />9. A patron had a heart attack last week on #11 at Elbel. Thanks to the quick action by John <br />Jennings, a South Bend fireman who just finished playing, the patron was revived using <br />one of the AEDs at our locations. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital and was <br />released over the weekend. <br />10. United Digital Integrators has donated two flat screen TVs to the Elbel clubhouse. <br /> <br /> - - 4 - - <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
