South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting –April 9, 2010

collects. The City is not going to be able to
come every day to pick it up. Or it will be
open and beautiful, but a real safety hazard
for our home because we are, you can see
from the picture we are right there.

Ms. Jones asked for those who had not had
an opportunity to speak yet.

Mr. Terry Wruble
: Me and my wife live in
the middle property that is going to be
acquired. We lived there for a year and a
half. I just want the board to know what kind
of neighborhood it is, you know. Most of the
houses, I think, were owned by the church
and were fairly dilapidated. When we
bought our house, it needed a lot of work. It
still does. I have been doing that kind of
thing for my whole life and look forward to
fixing this house up. We are getting on to the
age where we don’t want to do this any more,
so I came to this meeting to get an answer.
We have been dealing with this “we’re going
to buy the house, we’re not going to buy the
house” for a year now. It’s time to make a
decision. This project needs to go forward or
you’re going to tell us, OK. I either want you
to make a decision or go away so we can get
on with our lives. And that being said, I also
want to say this man here said they gave
people choices if they didn’t want to be
acquired. The person here is willing to be
acquired, under the same circumstances. She
doesn’t want to live there, and I think you
need to really think about that and get what
she is saying. She has just as much of an
argument as the people that don’t want to
move as the people who do want to move.
So, that’s all I have to say.

Mr. Keszei
: You are talking about the value
of Art Gray’s property and the other
29
