South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting –April 9, 2010

explanation of why this project is even being
undertaken. And, it doesn’t leave a good taste
in my mouth. Thank you.

Ms. Brady
: It is just more of a comment, and
I don’t know what your name is. David, what
you had said and what Mr. Davey had said
about the ponds that they can look beautiful.
I agree, I’ve seen retention ponds with
curved rocks around them, and they can look
beautiful. Once again, for the Brady house, it
doesn’t affect those who don’t have a two
year old, but for me, yes it may look
beautiful and that may even increase our
property value but we would not want to
choose to live next to that because we are
planning on having more children and I am
not comfortable, I would not have ever
chosen to invest in a home that is going to be
so close to water. I just want to reiterate that,
so that you guys understand. I’m not trying to
say let’s not do this project; and yes, it could
look beautiful and even if it would increase
our property values, to us it would decrease
the safety value. This is a major concern that
we have.

Mr. Relos
: Oliver Plow Works was just done
within the last few months, do you know
where Oliver Plow is? It is right behind
Underground Pipe and Value and is the
newest, as far as I know, that the City has
done. I suggest you just go right behind
where Underground Pipe and Valve is
building their new location. You can drive
back there, right up to the pond and take a
look at it. That would be a good example.

Ms. Brady
: I am just thinking for us it is a
lose/lose, because it is either going to be
fenced or contained in some fashion and
there is going to be debris and trash that
28
