Martin, Clerk <br />REGULAR MEETING MARCH 14, 2007 <br />19 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in the regular meeting at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, <br />with President Juanita Dempsey, and Board Members Patrick D. Cottrell, Bruce BonDurant, and <br />Laura Vasquez present. Board Member Eddie Miller was absent. Also present were Police Chief <br />Darryl Boykins, Fire Chief Howard Buchanon and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. <br />The meeting was held in the Common Council Chambers, 4th Floor, County -City Building, South <br />Bend, Indiana, <br />APPROVE MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS <br />President Dempsey advised that if there were no objections by members of the Board, the minutes <br />of the Public Agenda Session, Executive Session, and Regular meetings of the Board held on <br />February 17, 2010, and the Special Meeting of February 25, 2010, would be accepted. There being <br />no further discussion, the minutes were accepted. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />POLICE SELECTION PANEL <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Cottrell, seconded by Mr. BonDurant and carried, the recommendation from <br />Chief Darryl Boykins in his letter dated March S, 2010 to hire seven (7) police officers, was accepted <br />and approved. <br />SWEARING IN OF POLICE OFFICERS <br />- DEVON RICHARD JOHNSON <br />- JEFFERY MONTEL CHESTER <br />TYLER ROBERT DONLON <br />- ANDREW GARRETT HINES <br />- ERIC JAY MENTZ <br />- DANIEL JAMES NAPOLITAN <br />- TIMOTHY ROBERT TAYLOR <br />Chief Darryl Boykins recommended that Jeffery Chester, Tyler Donlon:, Andrew Hines, Devon <br />Hines, Eric Mentz, Daniel Napolitan, and Timothy Taylor be accepted for employment on a <br />probationary basis with the South Bend Police Department effective March 10, 2010. They have met <br />the requirements of the application process of the South Bend Police Department. <br />Mr. John Voorde, City Clerk, was present. Mr. Voorde administered the Oath of Office to the above <br />listed individuals.
