Friday, May 2 7th >_1932 4 <br />OQU <br />Ordinance No.2984. ; <br />i <br />An Ordinance providing f-or the appointment of a Street Commissioner and fixing <br />his salary; eliminating and vacating the Deputy <br />office of a Street Commissioner and <br />repealing all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict therewith. ' <br />Be it ordained by t he Common Council of the Cit y of South Bend., Indiana � <br />Section 1. That the Board of Public Works of the City of South Bend, Indiana , be, <br />and here by i s authorized <br />and empowere d to c- ppoint a Street Commissioner. <br />Section. 2 • That the sal^ ry of said Street Commissioner shall be Three Thousand Two ' <br />Hundred Thirty ($39230.00) Dollars <br />• <br />per year, which salary shell be paid at such times <br />as other sale Ties are paid. <br />Section 3. That the office of a Deputy Street Commissioner, be and the same is here- <br />� <br />by forthwith eleiminated, vacated, aid declared <br />non-existent. <br />Section 4. 'I <br />That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby <br />expressly repealed. <br />Section 5. Department <br />and heads � <br />that all transportation or car al1or, ances to city officials or employee es be fth- <br />or <br />wi th discontinued; and j <br />Be it further resolved that steps be taken at once by the M%-ayor . that all pas <br />and oil used in city eF:rs be checked against the milage recorded on each car to, pmvent <br />any unne cessary waste and that all departme nt s be instructed to k eep- a p ermanent <br />and areccrcop <br />y all supplies on hand, of all goods recived and of all disbursements made, • <br />py of such record transmitted to the Common Council by the 1V.ayor annually at <br />the time of th@ preparation of the annual budget and tax levy, and. <br />Be it further still resolved that the hiayor and Lepsrtment heads forthwith take j <br />action to eliminate the fo llcu ing employees: <br />; <br />2 assistant Clerks in Engineer's office; , <br />2 Assistant Engineertq office ; <br />1 Draftsman in Engineer's office i <br />2 inspectors in Building Lepartment <br />2 Barrett Law Clerks in• Treasurer's Offic e; <br />1 Deputy City Clerk; in Clerk's office; <br />Assistant Clerk in Board of Works Off ce ; <br />3 c artmen and 8 helpers in Street Department; <br />1 Office Clerk and 3 labors in City Cemetery Dept. ; <br />1 Aviation Boa rd Clerk; <br />1 City Plan Secretary; and <br />e it further resolved that the office of Legal Adviser in the Y:Iater Works Depart- <br />ment be elimim ted; and <br />Be it still further resolved that the City Clerk forthwith transmit a certified <br />copy of this resolution to the 1118yor and to each of the executive departments of the <br />C it y; and. <br />Be it still further resolved that within five (5) days after receipt from the ' <br />City Clerk of a certified copy of this resolution, the Mayor and also the heads of the <br />several executive departments of the City separately notify the Common Council b <br />written repcart of the action taken in the premises.
