<br />Whereas, there is need for the iii3edia -curtailment of municipal expenses
<br />andthe reduction of off icia 1 salaries of the City of South Bend, Indiana; and
<br />''hereas, the Common Council of said City he s here tof ore received from its
<br />fees and salaries committee certain re commend. at ions relating thereto; therefore,

<br />It is hereby resolved that it is the sense of the Common Council of the City

<br />South bend, Indiana, that effective June lst., 1932, the annual salaries of the
<br />!follaiing municipal

<br />Clerk forthwith "certify a copy
<br />of this resolution to the City Controller and that
<br />within five (5) days after receipt
<br />;from the City Clerk a copy of this resolution said
<br />Vontroller secure appropriate
<br />waivers from each and every official hereinabove set out releasing the municipal city
<br />r,of
<br />South Bend, Indiana, from any and all liabilities
<br />and obligations for the difference
<br />;between the annual salaries herein set out and the
<br />salaries (6or the same officials
<br />as now fixed by otdinanc e; and
<br />.

<br />Be it still further resolved that in case
<br />any appointive official refuse or
<br />neglect within the said five (5) days to sign( and
<br />execute an appropriate waiver as
<br />;above suggested, then and in that event the said. Controller
<br />is hereby directed to
<br />;communicate such information to the Mayor, and the
<br />Iimme di ately the
<br />Mayor should remove such official
<br />and refill vacancy thereby established
<br />by one who will accept the
<br />.sala-.ry ind icated in this resolution. In the event
<br />that such refusal or neglect be on
<br />I!the part of any elective o ffi cial then such information should be given by the Controller
<br />;Ito the Common Council.

<br />After -giving, the above ordinances anc resolutions of the Common Council their
<br />careful consideration, the Board ordered the Clerk to invite the members of the Fees
<br />;and Salaries Committee of the Common Council to attend the Board of Works meeting on
<br />Tuesday, May 31st., 1932, at 10-45 A. M., in order that the metters referred to in
<br />aaid resolutions andordinances may be taken up with this Committee.
