Dewaterina of Existing Detention Ponds:
Sub - contract with Selge Construction Co., Inc. to pump out the remaining water from the
existing detention ponds. Selge would accomplish this by setting up a pump near the
gates on the south side of the pond and running a HDPE discharge pipe across the pond
to the existing manhole. They would also pump the water from the other ponds into the
central pond for removal. It is estimated that the work will take 3 to 4 working days,
based on an estimate of 1.2 million gallons of water remaining in the existing ponds. All
pumping services are weather permitted.
Additional Geotechnical Investigation:
Upon completion of the dewatering of the existing detention ponds, additional soil
sampling will be completed to classify the soils within the existing detention ponds limits.
Earth Explorations will continue to be the sub - contractor (from phase 1).
Design Services:
CBBEL staff will design and prepare final construction documents for the project. All
plans and specifications will be prepared in accordance with City Standards and
Specifications.
Plans will be developed using base sheets provided from the topographic mapping
developed in Phase I and Phase II. The project will consider design features to address
the requirements of the regulatory agencies involved with this construction.
Specifications will be developed utilizing standard specifications and general conditions
provided by the City in addition to CBBEL standard specifications. Applicable conflicts
will be brought to your attention for your input.
It is anticipated that during the progress of this task, CBBEL will meet regularly with the
City staff, and other necessary local representatives to discuss the design and project
direction. The meetings will attempt to resolve plan elements which may best
accomplish project goals prior to initiating final design drawing preparations. A
maximum of three (3) meetings have been included in the proposed fee.
CBBEL staff will provide an opinion of probable cost based on the final construction
plans. This opinion will be based on the judgment of CBBEL engineering staff,
supplemented by local construction project history information provided by the City. An
itemized list of the estimated quantities or work units required to complete the job will be
included.
Permits: A Rule 5 permit (IDEM) will be required for this project. CBBEL will prepare
the submittal package and required documentation including the publication of legal
notice in a local newspaper. The package will be provided to the City for its signature
and submittal to IDEM. All permit application fees will be paid as a reimbursable and are
included in the reimbursable expense line item listed below.
13 Christopher B. Burke Engineering Ltd.
