<br />The legal advertising of Vacation Resolution No. 2821 having been insufficient in
<br />.!one of the Publications, it was necessary to re -advertise in both publications.
<br />Good Friday, according to the statutes of Indiana is a state holiday, and therefore
<br />the facilities of the City Hall will be closed Friday, March 30, 1956.

<br />R. S. Andrysiak, City Engineer, filed primary assessment roll showing the award of
<br />!damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of the vacation of Johnson Street
<br />from the North line of Washington Avenue to the South line of Orange Street, under Vaca-
<br />tion Resolution No. 2828. Further action on said Resolution was held in abeyance, until
<br />the contingency outlined in the letter of 12/8/S5 from the -City Planning Commission with •
<br />`reference to the South Shore Railroad warning gates on the south side of Orange Street at,,
<br />Johnson Street to be removed; the gates on the north side of Orange St. at Johnson to re-:;
<br />`main; that South Shore warning gates and lights should be installed at the Brookfield-
<br />!;Orange intersection which is to be completed before any final action.

<br />The Board approved the reports and passed Improvement Resolution No. 2831, authori'=
<br />zing these improvements and the 3rd day of April, 1956 at the hour of 7:30 P.M. Central
<br />�iDaylight Saving Time as the time, and the office of the Board in said City as the place,
<br />;when and where all persons whose propety may be affected by such proposed improvement, may
<br />':;;be heard, and all petitions and remonstrances, received and the Board will, on said day,
<br />j"decide whether the benefits accruing to abutting and adjacent property, and to.the City
<br />lof South Bend, Indiana, will be equal to or exceed the estimated cost of said improvements.

<br />Three traffic cars were assigned to this area for a full day of surveliance, Day Of-
<br />!'ficer reports traffice very light(Altgeld) nite officers, Klimczak and Knepper, traffice
<br />very light. Officer Knepper counted only 23 vehicles from 9 p.m. to 9:50 P.M.
