Mass, concerning accumulation of surface water <br />along Ribourde Drive, and recommended the installation of a culvert to remedy the con- <br />dition. The Board approved the installation. 3 <br />The Board next examined a letter received from Fattore Company, Center Line, <br />Michigan, under date of January 10, 1955, and directed the Clerk to inform Mr. Eugene <br />Fattore of an extension of date for conference to January 25, 1955, in the .matter of <br />the final closing of their contract, which pertained to the construction of a section <br />of the interceptor sewer. <br />0 <br />ENTRY OF PETITION PRESENTED - JEFFERSON STREET SEWER <br />The Board of Public Works and Safety hereby receives and places on file the <br />i� Petition of J. H. Kelsey and eighty-two others for the improvement on Jefferson Boulevard <br />Thirty -Fourth Street, Washington Street, Thirty -Fifth Street from approximately two - <br />hundred feet east of Twenty -Sixth Street to Logan On Jefferson Boulevard; from Jefferson' <br />Boulevard to Washington Street on Thirty -Fourth Street; from Thirty -Fourth Street to <br />Thirty -Fifth Street on Washington Street and from Washington Street to Oakcrest Drive on:, <br />i Thirty -Fifth Street. <br />The above petition was examined by the Board and referred to the City Engineer <br />for recommendation. The City Engineer, being present, made the recommendation that the <br />petition be granted. The Board then directed that the firm of Wilbur H. Gartner & <br />Associates prepare general details, drawings, specifications, and preliminary improve- <br />ment resolution for trunk sewer to be constructed and the firm was so notified January <br />61 11 17, 1955. <br />• <br />• <br />0 <br />Agreements with the Indiana & Michigan Electric Company, bearing dates of December <br />27, 1954 and. January 32 1955, pertaining to the supplying of electric current for the <br />Sewage Treatment Plant, at the four locations shown below, were examined and ordered <br />filed: <br />South side of Colfax Avenue at Sycamore <br />Edgewater Drive at Monroe Street <br />East of Mill Street; south of Colfax Avenue <br />Southeast corner. of 27th Street and North Side Blvd. <br />Next appeared before the Board a Mr. Farrel, in the matter of requirements to <br />conduct his sand -blasting operations on the face of the North Indiana Public Service <br />Company Building, 307 N. Michigan Street. After detailed discussion of this activity, <br />the Board ordered that he secure and deliver to the Board Certificate of insurance <br />covering public liability and property damage before proceding with this renovation <br />work. <br />The Board next considered the installation of Venetian blinds in the office of <br />the Building Commissioner and authorized the Clerk to proceed with the purchase of the <br />size and style of aluminum blinds desired by the Commissioner. <br />The report of Mr. Robert Ham, made in reply to the Boardts letter of January 10, <br />1955, was next considered by the Board, found satisfactory, and met with the approval <br />of the Hon. Walter Glass, who was present for the purpose of determining the progress <br />resulting in the Board1s effort to obtain compliance with City ordinance governing the <br />junk yard involved. _ <br />The request of the Mothers of Marines organization for permit to conduct their <br />annual flower sale at factory gates and on the downtown streets Friday and Saturday, <br />April 29th and 30th, was next considered by the Board. There being no confliction <br />with other fund-raising drives, the Board granted their request. <br />Petition, dated January 3, 1955, opposing the changing of Columbus Court from <br />Michigan Street to Mill Street to a one-way street, and opposing the vacating of <br />Columbus Court from Mill Street to St. Joseph Street, was reviewed by the Board and <br />referred to the City Planning Commission for their investigation and recommendations. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2805 - 1955 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the <br />award of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of vacation of THE ALLEY <br />SOUTH OF BROADWAY FROM LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD SOUTHWESTERLY AND WEST TO FRANKLIN STREET, <br />under Vacation Resolution No. 2805. <br />In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written <br />remonstrances were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of <br />notices and same were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore, finds that the several <br />lots and parcels of land have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said <br />roll. The Board, therefore decided to take final action on said assessment roll and <br />declares same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and <br />the proceedings closed, and the alley vacated upon receipt of the amount of benefit <br />assessments from the various property owners so benefited and all proceedings had with <br />reference to said alley vacation are hereby sustained. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 28o6 - 1955 <br />
