Minutes of the previous meeting were read <br />and approved. Equipment Co. <br />1.80 <br />46.02 <br />West Printing Co. <br />22.50 <br />The Board first examined a petition submitted under date of January 10, 1955 by <br />property owners in the 3500 block of Mishawaka Avenue, protesting the use of the prope <br />located at 3514 Mishawaka Avenue, owned by Mr. Earl Gustin. This was referred to the <br />City Planing Commission for investigation and recommendations. <br />The Board next examined a letter from South Bend Parking Co., Inc., under date <br />of January 11, 1955, supplying detailed information relative to their operating pro- <br />cedure and rates, in connection with request for license for new parking lot located <br />at 100 N. Mill Street and ordered letter placed on file. <br />1 A group of taxi -cab driver's license applicants next appeared before the Board. <br />IThe City Attorney, I. A. Hurwich, being present read the ordinance pertaining to the <br />"issuing of such license. In accordance with the ordinance, the Board then set the date <br />of Monday, January 24, 1955, at the hour of 10:00 A. M. E.S.T. for a hearing on the <br />six applications under consideration,and so informed those present. The Clerk was <br />'directed to give written notice to all concerned. <br />TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: <br />Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, being present, brought to the Board's attention <br />a new type of intersection islands and presented drawings and prices. The Board author- <br />ized the Traffic Engineerts request for the experimental installation 2M twenty of these <br />islands. <br />The Board informed Engineer Miller of complaints concerning the continued use of <br />Louise Street by Mercury Motorways trucks. The Traffic Engineer advised that an immed- <br />iate check of the situation would be made to determine whether or not the river crossing <br />operations have progressed to the stage that will permit the use of the regular routing <br />,for Mercury Motorways freight, with a view to eliminating heavy traffic on Louise Street <br />at the earliest date possible. <br />STREET DEPARTMENT: <br />H.
