Since this type is movable it is classified j <br />as an awning and the Board approved same and Mr. Kramer was referred to the Building 13 <br />Department for permit. Mr. Kramer was further advised that he must have a draftmants <br />drawing for each awning or marquee before a permit can be issued. The Clerk of the �I <br />Board was directed to advise Mr. Lederer of the Building Department of this classificatio. <br />Next appeared before the Board, Mr. Harry Ziegler, of the Ace Floor Covering Shop, <br />submitting plans for a canopy to be erected at 1920`South Michigan Street. The Board <br />approved the canopy providing it complies with the rules and regulations of the Building <br />Code governing same, which is section 452. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION N0. 2799 - 1954 <br />RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIAN�: <br />That it is desirable to vacate the following: <br />THE ALLEY WEST OF LELAND AVENUE FROM THE NORTH LINE OF THE <br />EAST -WEST ALLEY, NORTH TO CALIFORNIA AVENUE <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially affected by such <br />vacation: <br />Lots Numbered 25 and 26 Pt. of 2nd Plat of Shetterley Place <br />and <br />Lots Numbered 104 and 105, 3rd Plat of Shetterley Place Addition. <br />Notice of this resolution shall be published on the 20th day of August and on <br />the 27th day of August, 1954, in the South Bend Tribune and The Tri-County News. <br />This Board, at its office in the City Hall on the 7th day of September, 1954 <br />at 11:00 A. Hurwich <br />Board of Public Works & Safety <br />D E D I C A T I O N <br />WHEREAS, a plat with dedication of North one-half of Tasher Avenue, from a point <br />ninety-six (96) feet East of East line of Fellows Street to a point five -hundred seven- <br />n teen and fifty-two one hundredths feet East of East line of Fellows Street, indicated <br />there on is now presented to the Board, to be known as Tasher Avenue in the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />This plat and dedication is filed in the records of the Board of Public Works <br />and Safety and recorded in Book No. , Page No. , in the Recorderts Office of St. <br />Joseph County. <br />NOW -;THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City <br />South Bend, Indiana, that the North one-half of Tasher Avenue dedicated to the public <br />,use in said plat is hereby accepted and approved by said Board for and on behalf of the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Councilman Glass next appeared before the Board and submitted a petition, signed <br />'by several residents on 23rd Street, requesting that a street light be installed at <br />alley intersection between the five and six hundred block of 23rd Street. This was <br />'referred to Mr. Hunsberger for investigation and recommendation. <br />Councilman Glass also submitted a petition, signed by ten residents of 26th <br />'Street, complaining of the deplorable condition caused by an incinerator which is <br />'located in the rear of 1224 South 26th Street. This was referred to Sergeant Coil <br />for disposition and new location since this is a health hazard for the surrounding <br />neighbors. <br />A petition, bearing forty-two signatures of residents in the vicinity of Sample <br />;and Fellows Street, was referred to the Board by the Comirlon Council, calling for the <br />.''removal of junkyard located at Southeast corner of Sample and Fellows Street. The <br />Board directed the Clerk to notify the owner, Robert and Eugene Ham, to appear before <br />the Board at the next regular meeting of the Board on Monday, August 23, 1954, at <br />i10:00 A. M. DST. relative to the petition. <br />j <br />i A letter dated August 12, 1954, and signed by Mrs. Paul E.
