<br />curtailment of service thus indicated, for the Boards use in a conference to be held
<br />with Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, at an early date with a view to discovering some
<br />solution for the problem, and stated that the matter is being taken under advisement at
<br />this time.
<br />Next appeared before the Board, Mrs. Noble Skinner, and presented her plea to con-
<br />tinue the operation of a popcorn stand on private property, to which they hold ownership
<br />at 530 South Fellows Street. The City Engineer, being present, finding this location
<br />to be zoned as light industrial, informed Mrs. Skinner no permit is renu_red, but
<br />cautioned Mrs. Skinner to secure the required State of Indiana license.
<br />Street Commissioner, H. M. Tomlinson, together with Chief of Police, R. J. Gillen,
<br />next brought to the Board's attention a situation presented after every storm where any
<br />considerable amount of tree limbs break off and fall into the street, obstructing
<br />traffic and creating traffic hazard. It was pointed out that the Department of Public
<br />Parks does not maintain emergency service to handle this type of condition, and the
<br />Street Department does not have the equipment, nor authority, to trim or cut down, or
<br />'saw fallen trees and tree limbs with the emergency equipment the Street Department
<br />maintains and operates under storm conditions. It was the consensus of opinion of
<br />the Board, to hold conference with Superintendent Ralph Newman of the Park Department
<br />to determine the responsibilities of the Street and Park departments under storm
<br />emergency conditions, with a view to rendering more efficient and co-operative service
<br />when such emergencies occur. Commissioner Tomlinson was directed to hold such a
<br />conference with Superintendent Newman and endeavor to arrive at an agreement in the
<br />matter of rendering such special emergency service.
<br />STREET DEPARTMENT:
<br />Discussion was next given to the topic of weed -cutting, and the suggestion was
<br />'offered that the ordinance be changed in certain respects. The City Attorney, being
<br />present, agreed to review the -ordinance to determine such revision as the ordinance may
<br />require.
<br />The Board having been informed by their legal advisor in the matter of the bonding
<br />of the contractors connected with the Sewage Treatment Plant construction, that all
<br />.insurance _requirements have been complied with by the contractors awarded Contracts
<br />':Nos. 6 and 6-A, the Clerk was directed to notify these contractors of the Boardts
<br />iapproval of the insurance so provided.
<br />The Board next examined and approved plans,submitted by Wilbur H. Gartner & Associates,
<br />.for the construction of a local sewer for Rockne Drive, from the easterly line of
<br />Chimes Boulevard to the easterly line of MacArthur Avenue and sewer plans for Anzio
<br />Avenue from the center line of Pyle Avenue to the center line of Rockne Drive.
<br />The Board examined a petition for the paving of the north and south alley from Madison
<br />;Street to Marion Street, and referred this petition to the City Engineer for investigation
<br />and recommendation.
<br />IMIPROVED:-ENT RESOLUTION NO.2776 - ANARDING CONTRACT
<br />Engineer's Report, submitted by Wilbur H. Gartner & Associates, having been received
<br />'and examined by the Board, in the matter of bids for the improvement of SOUTH LAKE STREETI
<br />(EAST SIDE) from the south line of Western Avenue to the north line of Ford Street, by
<br />constructing a sidewalk and curb, in accordance with Improvement Resolution No. 2776,
<br />and confirmed by this Board on June 111, 1954, the bid was awarded to McIntyre & Jones
<br />for the sum of .„ 2649.50 .
<br />iMPROVElVIENT RESOLUTION NO. 2777 - AWARDING CONTRACT
<br />Engineer►s Report, submitted by Wilbur H. Gartner & Associates, having been received
<br />.and examined by the Board, in the matter of bids for the improvement of COLFAX AVENUE
<br />(NORTH SIDE), from the east line of Greenlawn Avenue to the west line of Coquillard
<br />Drive by constructing a sidewalk and curb in accordance with Improvement Resolution
<br />No. 2777, and confirmed by this Board on June 14, 1954, the bid was awarded to M��Intyre
<br />& Jones for the sum of $2024.25.

<br />Drawings, Plans, General Details, Specifications, Estimates and Preliminary Improvement
<br />Resolution for the improvement of DUP?HAr STREET, EROF.? THE WEST LINE OF OLIVE STREET
<br />.TO THE EAST LINE OF KALEY STREET, by constructing a Class "C" Pavement AND
<br />SOUTH BROOKFIELD STREET, from the south line of Indiana Avenue to the north line
<br />of Prairie Avenue, by constructing a Class "C" Pavement AND
<br />HAWTHORNE DRIVE, from the south line of lot 137 in Jefferson Heights Addition to
<br />the south line of McKinley Avenue,by constructing a local sewer AND
<br />GRANT STREET, from the center line of Indiana Avenue to the center line of Prairie
<br />Avenue, by constructing .a local sewer.
<br />The Board approved the reports and passed Improvement Resolution Nos. 2788, 2789,
<br />2793 and 2794, authorizing these improvements and the 28th day of July, 1954, at the
