<br />to take care of this matter.
<br />Mr. Frank Odusch next appeared before the Board, in behalf of the County Highway
<br />Department, asking permission for the use of a water distributor to enable them to
<br />perform a dust control experiment with salt in a six block area on Cleveland Road.
<br />After some discussion, the Board agreed to loan this equipment providing the results
<br />of time, costs, etc. of this experiment are available to the Engineering Department
<br />for their records for future use of dust control for the City. Pair. Odusch agreed to
<br />furnish the Engineering Department with this information.
<br />Report of Chief Gillen, regarding taxi -cab license for Mr. George Bernath, was
<br />examined and after some discussion, the Board decided to further investigate the cab
<br />situation before granting the license to I'VIr. Bernath.
<br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2761 - 1953
<br />Ptlr. John L. Graf, 1917 E. Ewing Avenue, appeared and remonstrated against the
<br />vacation of the first alley east of Hoke Street; from Ewing Avenue to the south line
<br />of the alley north of Ewing Avenue, under Vacation Resolution No. 2761. He stated
<br />that there would be several other remonstrances forthcoming against this alley vacation,
<br />so hearing on same, which was advertised for this date, is hereby continued until the
<br />regular meeting of the Board on Monday, July 20, 1953, at 10:00 A. M. G.S.T.
<br />A letter, under date of July 3rd, was received from the City Plan Commission
<br />regarding the vacating of a section of alley between Arnold Street and Oliver Street,
<br />north from Ewing Avenue to the first east and west alley, adjacent to lots 14 and 15
<br />in Rum Village Park lst Addition, stating that they do not approve this vacation.
<br />The Board, accordingly, denied this vacation.
<br />The Board also denied petition for vacation of a section of alley between
<br />Roosevelt Street and Beale Street, west from Riverside Drive, as this did not meet
<br />with the approval of the City Plan Commission.
<br />A letter, under date of July 3rd, was received from the City Plan Commission recommending1
<br />the vacation of a section of east Fox Street, between High Street and the Studebaker jj
<br />Golf Course, and this was referred to the Engineering Department for further investigation.
<br />Mr. John L. Graf, 1917 E. Ewing Avenue, requested that the north and south alley
<br />between Hoke Street and Ironwood Drive, which is located between lots 149 and 150
<br />Ewing Park Addition be opened up, and after discussion, the Clerk of the Board was
<br />directed to refer this matter to Tvir. Tomlinson for attention.
<br />The Board received a letter, under date of July 2nd, from Rev. Eugene J. Kazmierczak
<br />of Saint Adalbertts Church, 2420 W. Huron Street, requesting permission to block off
<br />Grace Street from -the corner of Olive Street to Meade Street, during their annual
<br />Festival, which is being held from July 30th to August 3rd inclusive. Permission was
<br />granted and the Clerk of the Board was directed to notify Rev. Kazmierczak accordingly.
<br />This being the time set for the opening of bids for the supplying of the Street
<br />Department with a truck, announcement was so made and the president of the Board, Ray
<br />S. Andrysiak, proceeded with the opening of the bids as follows:
