08 <br />111 TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT: <br />E. H. Miller, Traffic Engineer, submitted his report on petition by Northern <br />!Indiana I,lotor Truck Association, Inc., requesting change in inter -city truck ordinance <br />!allowing trucks to use Chapin Street instead of Prairie Avenue and Taylor Street, betwe <br />,Sample Street and Western Avenue; also to eliminate parking on the South side of Sample <br />Street, between Chapin Street and the. Washington High School. E. H. Miller recommended <br />;that this request be denied so petition was denied accordingly by the Board. <br />The Board approved the recommendation of E. H. Idiller, Traffic Engineer, for <br />;the elimination of parking on the north side of Western Avenue from Taylor Street to <br />'Chapin Street, and also elimination of parking on south side. of Western Avenue from <br />'Laurel Street to Chapin Street, during the hours from 6:00 A. M. to 9:00 A. M. and from <br />3 00 P. I,!- to 6:00 P. M. Mondays through Fridays. <br />The proposal of Traffic Engineer, E. H. Miller, regarding operation of traffic <br />signal at !Michigan Street and Jefferson Boulevard, was approved by the Board, whereby <br />signal will operate on a 3-phase movement allowing a left turn for south bound traffic <br />and a right turn for north bound traffic to turn east into Jefferson Boulevard on <br />separate phase. The use of green arrows to be used to accomplish this end. <br />The Board. approved S-T-O-P signs at the following intersections; <br />St. Joseph Street at Dubail Avenue <br />Fellow Street at Broadway <br />Indiana Avenue at High Street <br />Thomas Street at Maple Street. <br />The Board approved plans, submitted by Colpaert Realty Company, for the improve- <br />ment of the following streets: <br />Sunnyfield Place <br />Rowantree Place <br />Bloomfield Place <br />Clearview Place <br />Ford Street from Sample Street to Sunnyfield Place <br />Ford Street from Sunnyfield Place to Sta.23 - 77.04 <br />Sample Street from Sta. 18 - 20.65 to Mayflower Road <br />Scenic Drive from Sylvan Lane to Ford Street. <br />The Board examined a drawing, submitted by Colpaert Realty Corporation, of <br />Replat of Lots 11 through 18 and Lots 47 through 54 in Perkin's Ewing Avenue Addition <br />to the City of South Bend, Indiana, certified by Engineer, Paul L. Roelke, and carrying <br />the approval of the City Plan Commission, under date of July 2, 1953• This plat and <br />dedication is filed in the records of the Board of Public Works and Safety and recorded <br />in Book #19 , Page , in the St. Joseph County Recorder's Office. <br />Contractor's Bonds, each in the amount of $1,000.00, were approved by the Board <br />for Dale H. Gretton and Iv'Irs. Paul Szabo, 818 W. Thomas Street. <br />Excavation Bonds, each in the amount of $5,000,00, were approved by the Board <br />for Hartman Builders, Inc., and Millard T.
