<br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2755 - 1953
<br />This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by I
<br />the Board of Public.Works for the vacation of THE TEN FOOT WIDE WALK AREA BETWEEN AND
<br />ALONG THE ENTIRE DEPTH OF LOTS NOS. 18 AND 49 IN THE RECORDED PLAT OF SWANSON PARK
<br />iFOURTH ADDITION IN SOUTH BEND,.INDIANA, under Vacation Resolution No. 2755. The Clerk
<br />of the Board having shown sufficient .proofs of publication and no remonstrators having
<br />appeared and no written remonstrances having been filed with the Clerk, it was moved,
<br />seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be finally adopted and the
<br />said area be vacated., The Engineering Department is directed -to prepare an assessment
<br />roll covering the assessment of,benef its and the award of,damages to the surrounding
<br />properties.

<br />awards , of damages and. the assessments of benefits in the matter of the vacation of the

<br />In the above named assessment roll, the Board hereby orders that it will meet in
<br />j the City Hall at 11: 00 A. M. on the l s't day of , Tune ,1953 , for the purpose of hearing
<br />•
<br />and receiving remonstrances from all persons interested in or affected by said vacation
<br />and the Board further orders that notice of said hearing, together with the amount of
<br />�? damages awarded and benefits assessed to be addressed to the property owners by pub-

<br />lishing same onthe 8th day of May, on the 15th day of May and on the 22nd day of May,

<br />VACATION.RESOLUTION NO. 2756 - 1953
<br />This being the date set, hearing was had on the resoltuion heretofore adopted by
<br />the Board of Public Works for the vacation of the first alley west of Kaley Street from
<br />the north line of Colfax Avenue to the south line of Kankakee Avenue under Vacation
<br />Resolution No. 2756. The Clerk of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of pub-
<br />•
<br />lication and no remonstrators having appeared and no written remonstrances having been
<br />filed with the Clerk, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said
<br />resolution be finally adopted and the said alley be vacated. The Engineering Depart-
<br />ment is directed to prepare an assessment roll covering the assessment of benefits and
<br />the award of damages to the surrounding properties.

<br />by publishing same on the dth day of play, on the 15th day of May and on the 22nd day li

<br />Bids opened at the regular meeting of the Board, Monday, April 20th to provide
<br />two -hundred parking meters, were reviewed, and certain features of the Duncan parking
<br />meters not meeting with the Boardts approval, contract was awarded to M. H. Rhodes,
<br />Inc. of Hartford, Connecticut for -two -hundred Mark -Time parking meters. I •
<br />The Agreement, drawn up and signed by the Board, as entered into April 27, 1953,
<br />and to remain in effect until officially terminated, by and between the Dependable
<br />Disposal Co., Inc., and the Uity of South Bend, was then taken up by the Board and
<br />the Clerk was directed to forward one copy to Frank V. Woodward, president, Dependable
<br />Disposal Co., inc., 928 N. Eddy Street, South Bend, Indiana.
<br />STREET DEPARTMENT:
<br />H. M. Tomlinson, Street Commissioner, being present, called to the attention of
<br />the Board the damage done to the street,in the 1700 block of South Brookfield Street
<br />by certain operations of the Colpaert Realty Corporation. The Clerk was directed to •
<br />notify this firm to restore this section of street to its previous good condition as
<br />quickly as possible.
<br />The Commissioner then reported a similar situation on West Dubail Avenue, between
<br />Walnut and Magnolia Streets, caused by excavations made by the gas company, and the
<br />Clerk was directed to notify the Northern Indiana Public Service Company to make the
<br />necessary restoration at the earliest possible date.
<br />City Engineer, R. S. Andrysiak, being present, informed the Board of the final I
<br />closing of Beckts Lake Dump to be effected Saturday, Pviay 9, 1953• The Engineer further
<br />informed the Board that negotiations are under way to obtain a new dump location at
<br />the site of the old Bendix Rifle Range, corner of Douglas and Maple Roads, the property
<br />now being the Boy Scout Reservation. 0
