7556 <br />{ <br />14th day of January, 1953, and in the Tri-County News on the 9th day of January and on <br />the 16th day of January, 1953, which notices are in the following words and figures, to - <br />wit: (Here Insert); and also made proof of the posting of said notice in fourteen (14) <br />public places within the limits of the City of South Bend, Indiana, which proof of post- <br />ing is in the following words and figures, to -wit; (Here Insert). <br />And said matter being now set for public hearing, the need for said contract was <br />explained by Northern Indians Transit, Inc. by its President and General Manager, John <br />T. martin, and there being no representative of the public present to protest, nor <br />remonstrances presented, the approval of said contract was taken under advisement by <br />the Board for action. <br />It was moved by G. P. Ziegler, seconded by R. S. Andrysiak that the proposed <br />contract between Northern Indiana Transit, Inc. and the City of, South Bend, Indiana, be <br />executed and approved, and is so ordered, and thereupon said contract was signed and <br />executed by the members of the Board of Public Works and Safety, which contract reads <br />as follows, to -wit: (Here Insert) <br />Said action to be presented to -the Common Council for ratification. <br />The Board then gave consideration to the proposed sewage disposal plant, in the <br />matter of financing and motion was made by Ray S. Andrysiak, seconded by I. A. Hurwich, <br />and carried, that the following resolution be adopted, to -::pit: <br />a <br />"RESOLVED that Ross McCord Ice & Miller, bond counsel of <br />Indianapolis, be retained as bond counsel in connection <br />with the authorization, issuance, sale and delivery of <br />revenue bonds of the City of South Bend for the purpose of <br />financing the cost of the cityts sewage works project, and <br />that the terms of such employment be as set out in the <br />letter of said firm addressed to the Board of Public Works <br />under date of January 16, 1953." <br />Motion was then made by Granville P. Ziegler, seconded by R. S. Andrysiak and <br />carried, adopting the following resolution: <br />"RESOLVED that Russell C. Kuehl, Attorney, is employed <br />by the Board, as special counsel for the Sewage Disposal <br />Program; the fees for his services to be determined and <br />subject to the approval of the Board." <br />The Board received and acknowledged notification of the newly elected officers <br />of the Dependable Disposal Company, as follows: Frank Woodward, president, Herbert <br />A. Waechter, vice-president, and secretary. The Board was informed this change in <br />officers became effective January lb, 1953- <br />Representatives of Mercury Ir7otorways next appeared before the Board with the <br />complaint that they do not have access to their terminal on Louise Street due to <br />Northside Boulevard being impassable. Street Commissioner, Harry Td. Tomlinson, being <br />present, was directed to grade and gravel Northside Boulevard and maintain it in as <br />good condition as possible until the season has advanced where more permanent repair <br />can be made. <br />The Board then gave further consideration to bids opened at the last regular <br />meeting and awarded contracts, as follows: <br />STANDARD OIL CO. <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />300,000 gallons or less of Cut Back Asphalt and <br />Road Oil at the following prices: <br />S.
