A petition was received for the improvement of South 34th Street between East
Jefferson Boulevard and East Washington Avenue, and also one for the improvement of
Chalfant Street, between Arthur and Walsh Streets, were examined and referred to the
City Engineer for investigation and report.
A petition bearing no date, but referred to the Board by the Common Council under
date of July 15th, was examined and referred to the Street Commissioner for inspection
and report, inasmuch as this petition refers to the burning of refuse and debris at
• j the Beck Lake Durnp, and.requests that such activity be stopped because petitioners
consider it to be a smoke, fire, health and property hazard.
Copy of report of Ralph Moorhouse of Consoer, Townsend and Associates to the
Fattore Company on deficiencies revealed by their inspection of South Bend Intercepting
Sewer under contract No.1-C, was examined by the Board and ordered filed under Fattore
Company check list.
Attention of the Board was next called to the paving of Main Street south of the
j City Limits, which has been authorized by the County Commissioners, and the fact this
will leave one block of this street unpaved. It was the consensus of opinion of the
1 Board that this additional block, within the City Limits, should be paved at the same
time and by the same contractor, to complete the thoroughfare and effect considerable
. savings in cost over the letting of a contract for the paving of this block separately.
The City Engineer was accordingly directed by the Board to contract the contractor,
awarded contract by the County Commissioners, and place order with him for this
additional block of street paving.
Also brought to the attention of the Board, was the costly upkeep of a six-foot
strip of berm on Main Street, from Jennings to Chippewa Street, which is continually
washin,g avvayr, and the suggestion was offered that this six-foot strip on each side of
the pavement be paved, upon obtaining a petition to cover this needed installation
signed by Edwards Iron Works and the individual home -owners involved.
•I DEDICATI02d
The Plat to be known as -_Zeller t s Rum Village Heights Second Addition.
It is located in the Northeeast Quarter of Section Tvienty-Two (22) Township Thirty -
Seven (37) North, Range Two (2) East and is described as follows: Beginning at a point
Two Hundred Six (206) feet South of the iiortheq_st corner of said Section Twenty -Two (22)
thence South on the East line of said Section, One Thousand Ninety-eight and two -tenths
(1098.2) feet; thence .Test One hundred Eight -Seven (187) feet; thence North One Thousand
Ninety-eight and two tenths (1093.2) feet to the South line of Whitcomb & Kellerts Rum
Village Heights Addition; thence East One Hundred Eight -seven (137) feet to the place
of beginning.
I
• !
