considered the matter and gave their consent directing the Clerk to furnish letter of
permit for such barricading of the street, with copies to the Chiefs of the Police and
Fire Departments, and the Street Commissioner for their information.
The Board next took up the request of St. Adalbert's Church for permission to
barricade Huron Street from Olive to 'Meade Street for their annual festival. The matter
was given some discussion and inasmuch as various types of "rides" are to be a part of
the amusements, approval was granted with the stipulation that satisfactory evidence of
insurance protection is furnished to the Board. The date for the festival has been set
for July 31, August 1, 2, and 'rd.
operations.
Mention was made of sewers on Niles Avenue, in the immediate vicinity of the Street
Department, being in need of considerable repair. Mr. Tomlinson also mentioned a
property on Miami Street, an unoccupied and abandoned house and yard grown full of
11
weeds, which is a serious eye -sore to the particular neighborhood. The Board approved
11the cleaning up of the lot in question and authorized and directed the Street Department
to proceed to mow the weeds on these premises.
stricting traffic to vehicles of a maximum of one -ton load capacity. T"r. Wegenke also
mentioned that this section of Ewing Avenue is being used as a "race track" by reckless
motorists and asked that steps be tal_:en to correct this condition. The Board gave the
matter careful consideration and referred the petition to traffic Engineer, Ernest H.
Miller, for investigation and report.
Mr. Earl Stacher, 2721 Frederickson Street, then appeared before the Board. Mr.
Stacher stated he represented Courtesy Cab Company, an association of independent cab o
ers, and asked permission to add one cab to their present fleet of seven, and stated
