ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: Contractors Bonds were approved and ordered filed for Byron <br />Balsbaugh and Russell Platz; Henry J. Fisette; Millard T. Hartman; Donald Nelson and <br />Joseph Cleland Co-partners d/b%a Nelson & Cleland Construction Company; Peter Schumacher <br />and Sons, Incorporated, Mishawaka; Sam Zoludow. <br />Excavation Bonds were approved and ordered filed for J. A. Currie; William S. Lodyg'; <br />and Harold H. Schanfald. <br />A petition was received for the removal of an unsanitary, unsightly building at the <br />corner of Miami and Dubail Streets which is being used as a dwelling. This building hasl <br />. <br />no water or sanitary facilities of any kind. The Board ordered that this building be <br />condemned as unfit for human habitation and the people dwelling therein were given 60 <br />days in which to find a place to live. <br />Mr. Andrew Place and Mr. Stephen Szucz appeared before the Board relative to land <br />I <br />I <br />in the vicinity of Falcon and Dundee Streets which is used as a dump. Mr. Place as'owne <br />and Mr. Szucs as operator were instructed to have extermination service to rid the dump <br />of rodents, to segregate the loads, to reduce the fire incident, and to use fill -dirt <br />i <br />to cover any deposited rubbish. <br />The Board approved thereplating of Swanson Park Second Addition, a part of Tuxedo <br />Park, lst and 2nd Additions of lots in Jefferson Heights Addition to the City of South <br />! • <br />Bend. <br />The Board approved the replating of Swanson Park First Addition a part of Lucast <br />Sub -Division of lots in Jefferson Heights Addition to the City of South Bend, Ind. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 2659 <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll showing the award <br />of damages and the assessment of benefits in the matter of vacation of the FIRST EAST - <br />WEST ALLEY SOUTH OF WASHINGTON AVENUE from the east line of 24th Street, east a distance <br />of 588 feet to the east line of Lots No. 25 in Tuxedo Park, 2nd Addition of Lots in Jef- • <br />ferson Heights Addition, AND the FIRST EAST -EST ALLEY SOUTH OF WILSON STREET from the <br />east line of 24th Street, east a distance of 588 feet to the east line of Lots No. 9 <br />and 24 in Tuxedo Park, First Addition of Lots in Jefferson Heights Addition, under Vaca- <br />tion Resolution No. 2659. <br />In the above named assessment roll, no remonstrators appeared and no written remon- <br />strances were filed, the Clerk of the Board submitted proofs of publication of.notices <br />and`same were found sufficient, and the Board, therefore, finds that the several lots <br />and`parcels of land have been benefited and damaged in the amounts shown on said roll <br />Tne"Board, therefore, decided to take final action on said assessment roll and declares <br />same in all things ratified, confirmed and approved without modification and the proceed <br />ings closed, and the alleys vacated upon receipt of the amount`of benefit assessments • <br />from the various property owners so benefited and all proceedings had with reference to <br />said alley. vacations are hereby sustained. <br />VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 261 ! <br />This being the date set, hearing was had on the resolution heretofore adopted by the <br />Board of Public 'forks for the vacation of THAT PART OF EAST MARION STREET BOUNDED AS <br />FOLLOWS: Beginning at a point 201 feet east of the northwest corner of Lot 130 in the <br />original Plat of South Bend; thence north 15 feet; thence east parallel to the south lint <br />of Marion Street to the west line of the St. Joseph River; thence southwesterly along <br />the^west line of the St. Joseph River to the south line of Marion Street; thence west <br />on the south line of Marion Street 343.28 feet more or less to the place of beginning, • <br />said 15 foot strip of East Marion Street being that part of said street lying north of <br />the north property line of Lot 118 in the Original Plat of South Bend and a part of va- <br />cated St. Joseph Street immediately west thereof, under Vacation Resolution No. 2671. <br />The Clerk of the Board having shown sufficient proofs of publication and no remonstrator' <br />having appeared and no written remonstrances having been filed with the Clerk, it was <br />moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the said resolution be finally adopted and <br />the said part of street be vacated.
