522 <br />bids, and designate -by preliminary order the.kind of pavement to be used, for the follow <br />ing described Street Improvement, as provided for in Improvement Resolution No. 2595, 19' <br />duly passed by said Board on April 25, 1949 and May 23, 1949 to -wit: Hamden Court from <br />the North line of La Salle Avenue to the South line of Alley north of La Salle Avenue by <br />draining, grading and paving the roadway with a Class C pavement, Types One (1) to Five <br />(5) inclusive. <br />Provided, all bids for the construction of said work, shall be filed in the office <br />of the Clerk of the Board of Public Works and Safety of said City before 10:00 A.M.C.S.T. <br />of said day. <br />Each bidder for said work shall enclose with his bid, a certified check payable to <br />the Treasurer of said City, in the sum of two and one-half (21) per cent of the amount <br />of his bid or a bid bond for two and one-half (21) per cent of the amount of his bid, to <br />insure the execution of Contract, if said work is awarded to him. <br />Detailed plans and specifications for said improvement are on file in the office <br />the Department of Engineering. <br />The Board of Public Works and Safety reserves the right to reject any and all bids. <br />Dated this 23rd day of May, 1949 <br />By order of the Board of Public Works & Safety <br />R. Terminal Lunch, 1533 West Sample Street. Mr. Byron Zimmerman, <br />it owner. <br />A letter was received from the Walnut Grove Mutual Housing Corporation informing <br />!1the Board that the streets in the project were badly in need of repair. The Board dir- <br />lected the Clerk write to Mr. Shunney, President of the Board, informing him that they wou <br />;prefer that the work be let to a private contractor as mentioned as one of the alternates <br />!'in the letter, inasmuch as the Street Department is under such pressure with their ob. large reg- <br />Jular maintenance work that it is unable to undertake such a g j <br />IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION <br />NO. 25741 1948 <br />STATE OF INDIANA ) <br />SG: <br />ST..JOSEPH COUNTY ) <br />IN THE MATTER relating to the Improvement made under Improvement Resolution No.,257 <br />1948, and the plans and specifications therefor comes now Virgil H. Reed who being duly <br />sworn upon oath deposes -and says he is acquainted with Reed Construction Company, the <br />party to whom was awarded the contract and who performed the work under Improvement Res- <br />olution No. 2574, 19487.` <br />That he is familiar with and personally knows the requirements of the plans and <br />specifications of said improvement resolution and further }Mows that the said Reed Const <br />ion Company in the performance of said work complied with all the terms and conditions o <br />said plans and specifications in every particular, and that the material used was of the <br />character, kind, quality and quantity required therein and according to and under the <br />direction of the Board of Public Works and Safety. <br />s/ Virgil H.
