In addition, the <br /> I ' <br /> City has completed two clearance programs, eliminating over 350 substandard res- <br /> t <br /> idential structures, and has pursued, on a City-wide basis, local code <br /> enforcement. <br /> To mace these programs more effective, a City-wide relocation program was <br /> 1 <br /> established which provides funds for moving costs and related relocation <br /> expenses for persons displaced by local governmental action. The Housing <br /> Authority has also improved its operations with the addition of 150, Section <br /> I ' <br /> , . 23, leased housing units, completion of 186 units for the elderly, and plans <br /> for 450 HOPLIF housing units to be constructed over the next few years. <br /> The following is a brief discussion for the areas covered by the City's con- <br /> centrated program to prevent and eliminate the spread of blight� P g P 2 and blighti:.g <br /> conditions and are identified on the "Systematic Housing Code.Enforcement <br /> Program Map"; <br /> West Washington Street Area; <br /> The West Washington• Street area is substantially covered by the <br /> proposed Model Cities Program, which focuses on eliminating and <br /> preventing the spread of blight through maximum use of Federally- <br /> assisted- and local intensified Code Enforcement Programs.
