After hearing all remonstrators, the Board advised them that the Resolution was adopted after examination of a report from the Traffic Engineer regard ing hazardous traffic conditions on McKinley; that parking on city streets is a privilege and not a right and no advanced notice of traffic ban in the interests of public safety is required. The Board further advised the remonstrators that, since McKinley Highway is a State highway (U.S. 20) any traffic ban falls under the jurisdiction of the State Highway Department and it is the duty of that Department to deny or confirm the Resolution in question. The remonstrators were advised to contact the State Highway Department and request a public hearing for the purpose of remonstrating the no parking Resolution. The Board also accepted the letter referred to above from Mr. Robert Edwards and ordered that it be placed on file. FIRE DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENTS Comes now Fire Chief Alex Andrzejewski with the recommendation of the Firemen's Pension Fund Trustees. Said Board of_Truttees in regular session unanimously recommended that the applications of Raymond Anthony Cieslik and Carl Joseph Zwierzynski be accepted for membership in the Firemen's Pension Fund; that said applicants had successfully s• passed medical examinations and had qualified in all other prescribed entrance requirements and that said applicants were qualified to fill posts in the Fire Department. The Board, following the recommendation of the Fire Chief and the Firemen's Pension Fund, and having examined said recommendations hereby appoints Raymond Antyony Cieslik to the Fire Department and Carl Joseph Zwierzynski to the Fire Department. Mr. Zgierzynski will be assigned to the Electrical Department. Both appointments will become effective March 1, 1961. FIRE DEPARTMENT DISABILITY RETIREMENT Comes now Eire Chief Alex Andrzejewski with a recommendation of the Firemen's Pension Fund Trustees that Russell Hoffman, now a member of the Fire Department, be retired under a monthly disability pension of 35% of a fully paid first class firemen's salary. Said disability retirement is based on the provisions of the pension fund and the recommendation of Dr. R. W. Spenner, medical examiner, whose physical findings were to the effect that the physical incapacitation of said fireman would forestall him from performing the vigorous duties incident to the fire service. After due deliberation, the Board approves the recommendation of the Fire Chief and the Pension Fund Trustees and the disability retirement will be granted, effective March 16, 196.1. POLICE DEPARTMENT APPLICATION An application for the Police Department from Frank Kopetski was accepted and ordered placed on file. POLICE DEPARTMENT PROMOTION Comes now Police Chief J. Charles Dutrieux and recommends that Police Officer Daniel Radman be promoted to the rank of Corporal, effective March 1, 1961. After due deliberation, the Board approved the promotion as recommended by the Chief. TRAFFIC ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT (TRAFFIC SIGNS) Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer, the following traffic installations were approved: Yield Right of Way signs on Rose Street, both sides, at Hass Street.
