Minutes of the last <br />previous meeting were read and approvied. Vouchers were ordered paid to <br />the various suppliers. <br />AWARDING OF BID (FIRE DEPARTMENT SNORKEL) <br />The Board, having examined the bid submitted by Pitman Manufacturing Company <br />for a hydraulic aerial platform for the Fire Department and having found <br />the specifications to be satisfactory, the bid of said Pitman Manufacturing <br />Company is accepted and the secretary directed to so notify the manufacturer. <br />The bid reads as follows: <br />Pitman Manufacturing Co. <br />P.O. Box 572 <br />Granfview, Mi souri <br />1 - Pitman Snorkel hydraulic aerial platform, chassis and eauipment <br />all in accordance with your specifications $45,338.39 <br />Prices quoted are f.o.b. South Bend, Ind. <br />Delivery - 180 to 200 calendar days. <br />MCKINLEY HIGHWAY PARKING RESOLUTION (REMONSTRANCE <br />Comes now Robert M. Edwards of 628 Irvington Avenue and several other property <br />owners in this area to protest a Resolution drawn up by the Board and <br />forwarded to the State Highway Department, attention of the Engineer in <br />LaPorte, Indiana, with reference to traffic ban on McKinley (U.S.20). <br />Mr. Edwards submitted a letter setting forth the objections to such a <br />traffic ban. Among the objections were: (a') such a ban would adversely <br />effect the utilization of propetty owned by Mr. Edwards; (b) property <br />owners along the proposed route were not informed prior to the adoption <br />of said Resolution; (c) such a ban for all property owners, as proposed, <br />results from one localized residential -commercial parking dispute; (d) <br />adequate methods of enforcement exist to prevent truck parking without <br />prohibiting all parking; (6) that more heavily traveled and hazardous <br />state routes exist and are not under such a no parking ban. <br />
