FIRE DEPARTMENT: LETTER OF COMPLIMENT ( ST MARVIS) A letter to Fire Chief McHenry from Sister Mary Verda, C.S.C., Superior of St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana,.complimented Chief McHenry and the South Bend Fire Department for their "untiring and:generous efforts" at the recent broken pipe emergency at St. Mary's which threatened a serious flooding condition which would have caused great damage to the college. The letter was accepted and ordered placed on file. FIRE DEPARTMENT: PROMOTION ( CUNNINGHAM ) Following the recommendation of Fire Chief McHenry, the Board approved the promotion of Daniel Cunningham of the Fire Department to the rank of Lieutenant, effective May 15, 1964. WJ SPECIAL POLICE.CONMISSION (HUMANE SOCIETY) kf; A Special Pol ce Commission for Henry J. Plummer, an employee of the Humane Society was approved by the Board and ordered placed on file. SPECIAL POLICE BOND ( BENDIX, CORPORATION ) A blanket Special Police Bond covering Special Police employed by Bendix Corporation, filed with this Board in January 1963 was the subject of a letter from Bendix Corporation signed by A. A. Cater, Supervisor of General Accounting. Mr. Cater submitted an Endorsement for said Bondcamend:ing the termination date as outlined in condition 2(B) . Said termination date is changed from December 31, 1966 to December 31, 1165, The Endorsement was approved and ordered placed on file. REQUEST: POLICE DEPARTMENT ( PARADE_)_ A request from Officer C. Kuskye, Co-chairman of the Police Show, was submitted to the Board. The F.O.P. request permission to hold a parade in conjunction with its 22nd Annual Police Show. The parade will include six floats, several stage coaches, two sheriff's posse, two marching bands, clowns with 60 to 80 horses. The parade will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 25, 1964. It will assemble in the 300 block of W. South Street and march east to Michigan, north on Michigan to Colfax, west to Main and south_.on Main to South Street. Permission granted. POLICE DEPARTMENT: APPLICATIONS The following applications for the Police Department were accepted and ordered placed on file: Robert James Seese and Norman Edwin Trost. POLICE DEPARTMENT: ANNUAL REPORT & MONTHLY REPORT An Annual Report for the year 1963 and a Monthly Report for the month of March, 1964 from the Police Department were accepted and ordered placed on file. BUILDING DEPARTMENT: MONTHLY REPORT A report for the month of April, 1964 was accepted from the Building Department and ordered placed on file.
