obtain estAmate of costs to board up house so as to avoid vandalism. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: LETTER OF COMPLIMENT ( ST MARVIS) <br />A letter to Fire Chief McHenry from Sister Mary Verda, C.S.C., Superior <br />of St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana,.complimented Chief McHenry <br />and the South Bend Fire Department for their "untiring and:generous <br />efforts" at the recent broken pipe emergency at St. Mary's which <br />threatened a serious flooding condition which would have caused great <br />damage to the college. <br />The letter was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: PROMOTION ( CUNNINGHAM ) <br />Following the recommendation of Fire Chief McHenry, the Board approved <br />the promotion of Daniel Cunningham of the Fire Department to the rank <br />of Lieutenant, effective May 15, 1964. <br />WJ <br />SPECIAL POLICE.CONMISSION (HUMANE SOCIETY) <br />kf; A Special Pol ce Commission for Henry J. Plummer, an employee of the <br />Humane Society was approved by the Board and ordered placed on file. <br />SPECIAL POLICE BOND ( BENDIX, CORPORATION ) <br />A blanket Special Police Bond covering Special Police employed by <br />Bendix Corporation, filed with this Board in January 1963 was the <br />subject of a letter from Bendix Corporation signed by A. A. Cater, <br />Supervisor of General Accounting. <br />Mr. Cater submitted an Endorsement for said Bondcamend:ing the termination <br />date as outlined in condition 2(B) . Said termination date is changed <br />from December 31, 1966 to December 31, 1165, <br />The Endorsement was approved and ordered placed on file. <br />REQUEST: POLICE DEPARTMENT ( PARADE_)_ <br />A request from Officer C. Kuskye, Co-chairman of the Police Show, was <br />submitted to the Board. <br />The F.O.P. request permission to hold a parade in conjunction with its <br />22nd Annual Police Show. The parade will include six floats, several stage <br />coaches, two sheriff's posse, two marching bands, clowns with 60 to 80 <br />horses. <br />The parade will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 25, 1964. It will <br />assemble in the 300 block of W. South Street and march east to Michigan, <br />north on Michigan to Colfax, west to Main and south_.on Main to South Street. <br />Permission granted. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: APPLICATIONS <br />The following applications for the Police Department were accepted and <br />ordered placed on file: Robert James Seese and Norman Edwin Trost. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: ANNUAL REPORT & MONTHLY REPORT <br />An Annual Report for the year 1963 and a Monthly Report for the month of <br />March, 1964 from the Police Department were accepted and ordered placed on <br />file. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: MONTHLY REPORT <br />A report for the month of April, 1964 was accepted from the Building <br />Department and ordered placed on file. <br />
