take necessary action to stop the Super Auto Salvage at 3300 S. Main <br />Street from extending their junk yard to the 3400 block of S. Main <br />Street. <br />It was the decision of the Board to bring the matter to the attention <br />of the Building Commissioner to ascertain viether there is a violation. <br />Comes now Louis Smogor, Building Commissioner, and informs the Board <br />that there is no violation of zoning and this extension of the junk <br />yard can be made since the property is zoned heavy industrial. <br />The Board directed Mr. Smogor to contact the proprietor of the Super <br />Salvage and inform them of the Petition with reflects the feelings of <br />his neighbors. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT ( ATTEND SCHOOL _4 <br />Permission was granted to Louis Smogor, Building Commissioner to <br />allow eight members of his staff to attend the Indiana Inspector's <br />School, Lafayette, Indiana from April 1, 1963 to April 39 1963. <br />PETITION: MACHINE SHOP _CATALPA STREET(COUNCILMAN MUSZYNSKI ) <br />Comes now Councilman Muszynski and submits a Petition from residents <br />of Kenble Street, Catalpa Street area , remonstrating against the <br />continued existence of a Machine Shop located at the rear of 1921 <br />Catalpa Street. This shop is housed in a cement block building. <br />The Petition states that this deteriorates and degrades the neighbhr- <br />hood. <br />After hearing Councilman Muszynski, the Board directed that the <br />Police Department send an.officer to the scene and report the conditions <br />and to ascertain whether there is a violation of zoning. <br />RE: COMPLAINT - ROSE COAL & FUEL COMPANY COAL DUST Z <br />Cbmes now Councilman Muszynski and J. Chester Allen, Councilman-at- <br />larbe with reference to the complaint of the residents in the vicinity <br />of the Rose Coal & Fuel Company. <br />Councilman Allen suggested that, instead of considering this excessive <br />coal dust as a health hazard, it be considered as a public nuisance. <br />He further stated that the comfort of the neighbors has been upset by <br />the accumulation of coal dust and referred to the City Ordinances on <br />Public Nuisances. <br />After hearing Mr. Muszynski and Mr. Allen, it was the decision of the <br />Board that Mr. Irving J. Smith will meet with Mr. Kopec, Assistant <br />City Attorney concerning this matter. <br />PARKING METERS - <br />Mr. Charles Taylor of Taylor Construction Company, appeared before the <br />Board to complain about ptYkiagi:meters located at sidewalk elevators, <br />especially about meters located on Jefferson Boulevard at the First <br />Bank & Trust Company. <br />Mr. Taylor voiced an opinion that these meters should be removed, due <br />to the fact that this imposed a hardship on companies loading or <br />unloading at these sites, since these meters must be fed during such <br />operations. <br />After hearing Mr. Taylor, the Board referred the matter to the Traffic <br />Engineer for investigation and report. <br />
