January 12, 1970. <br />508 E. South Street. No one appeared on behalf of Continental Homes of Indiana, <br />owner of this property, as requested. Mr. Adamson exhibited a letter to. <br />the Board from Continental Homes of Indiana indicating their willingness for <br />the house to be demolished. <br />208 S. Chapin Street. Virginia Bailey did not appear before the Board as <br />requested. Mr. Adamson exhibited a letter from Mrs. Bailey, who lives in <br />Michigan, giving permission for demolition of the property. It was moved, <br />seconded and unanimously carried, that the Sub -Standards Director be granted <br />permission to advertise for bids for demolition of the structure at 208 S. <br />Chapin Street. <br />912 W. Napier Street. Mr. Adamson reported no response to his certified notice <br />to the owner of this property sent on December 22, 1969; that the house has <br />been unoccupied for three years. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the Sub -Standards Director was granted permission to seek bids for <br />demolition of the structures at 912 W. Napier Street. <br />1119 W. Napier Street. Mr. Adamson reported concerning John and Frank Kujawa <br />as the.owners of this property; that John Kujawa is deceased leaving one son <br />John Gene Kujawa, who has no objection to the demolition of the property; <br />that Frank Kujawa, who is old and infirm, is presently in a nursing home, and <br />that he has talked to Mr. Kujawa personally regarding the properVy..Upon motion <br />made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was granted <br />permission to advertise for bids for demolition of the structures at 1119 W. <br />Napier Street. <br />421 S. William Street. Max Cohen, owner of this property, did not appear as <br />requested. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub - <br />Standards Director was granted permission to advertise for bids for demolition <br />of the structure at 421-423 S. William Street. <br />1820 S. Taylor Street. Mrs. Alex Zakrowski, owner of this property, appeared <br />before the Board, stating she still hopes to fix up the home. It was noted that <br />the property has been sub -standard since 1966. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was granted permission <br />to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 1820 S. Taylor Street. <br />Request for sub -standard property owners to appear before Board 1/26/70 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re- <br />quest of Mr. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, for the following persons to <br />appear before the Board on January 26, 1970, to show cause, if any they have, <br />why the following properties should not be demolished: <br />Gladys A. Rothballer - 1016 Sorin Street <br />Robert and Lilly Curtis - 1112 E. Sorin Street <br />Ross Weldy - 236 E. Elder Street <br />Mamie Myers - 115 E. Elder Street <br />Elsie Polay - 405 E. Wenger Street <br />And the Clerk was directed to so notify said owners by certified mail to appear. <br />Demolition bids opened <br />This being the date set, bids for demolition of the following properties <br />were opened. Non collusion affidavits were found to be proper. The bids were: <br />508 E. South Street: <br />Bryant Excavating Co. $285.00 <br />O'Neal Trucking Co. $469.00 <br />B & J Demolition Co. $650.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, bid for demolition of <br />the above property was awarded to Bryant Excavating Company on their low bid <br />of $285.00. <br />
