12/29/69 that being the lowest and best bid received. Purchase order to be written after January 1, 1970. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the following matters were taken up. 1820 S. Taylor. Mr. Adamson reported nothing further has been done to re- habilitate this structure. Upon motion made seconded and carried, the mat- ter was continued to January 12, 1970, and Mr. Adamson was directed to con- tact the owner. 1209 S. Lafayette. Mr. Adamson stated the owner has done nothing to re- habilitate this property as promised to the Board on October 20, 1969, and that the property is in a worse condition, is open and has been vandalized. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for the demolition of the premises. 120-122 S. Chapin Street. Mr. Adamson reported this property is secured. per minute 10/20/ 9 O Request for owners of sub -standard properties to appear before Board 1/12/70. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of the Sub -Standards Director for permission to have the following owners of sub- standard properties appear before the Board on January 12, 1970 to show cause if any they have why the following properties should not be demolished; Joseph and Pearl Culp - 1144 S. Main St. Goldie Oberlin - 145 E. Elder St. Stanley Kandzierski - 702 S. Olive St. John and Amy Ludlow - 412 E. Ohio St. Harriet Lawson - 730-732 South Bend Ave. Continental Homes of Indiana - 508 E. South St. Virginia Bailey - 208 S. Chapin St. And the Clerk was directed to so notify said owners by certified mail. RECOMMENDATION OF PURCHASING DIRECTOR FOR JANITORIAL SERVICES FOR MUNICIPAL SERVICES FACILITY The Purchasing Director having reviewed the bids for janitorial services for Municipal Services Facility for 1970, and having recommended to the Board that a contract be awarded for a period of three months, the motion was made, seconded and carried that the bids be referred to the City Controller for further review. HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL - IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3274 - ALLEY BETWEEN MAIN AND MICHIGAN This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll for the improvement of the alley between Main and Michigan Streets, from Bowman to Calvert, by constructing a Class C, Type I pavement. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on December 12 and December 19, 1969, which were read and found to be sufficient. No remonstrators having appeared and no written remonstrances having been received, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the assessment roll adopted December 8, 1969, was in all things confirmed. HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL - IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3275 - ALEEY BETWEEN WAYNE STREET AND SUNNYMEDE AVENUE This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll for the improvement of the alley between Wayne Street and Sunnymede Avenue, from Sunnyside Avenue to the alley west, by constructing a Class C pavement, Type I. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on December 12 and December 19, 1969, which were read and found to be sufficient. No remonstrators having appeared and no written remonstrances having been received, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the assessment roll adopted December 8, 1969, was in all things confirmed.
