12/22/69 <br />1 <br />from the first day of appointment. <br />Duties t)f corporal <br />(a) He shall be responsible for the preservation of <br />peace; the prevention and detection of crime and the <br />enforcement of all City ordinances, State and Federal <br />laws. He shall at all times be subject to the order <br />of his commanding officer and all officers superior in <br />rank to his own. <br />(b) He shall be considered to have mastered the subjects <br />pertaining to the duties of a patrolman and be held <br />strictly responsible for his own efficiency, discipline, <br />general good conduct and appearance. <br />(c) He shall communicate periodically with headquarters <br />to ascertain whether there are any matters requiring <br />his attention within the area of responsibility that has been <br />assigned to him for the day. <br />(d) He shall have have the responsibility for acting <br />sergeant until replaced at the scene and shall become <br />familiar with all the duties of both patrol and desk <br />sergeants. <br />PROMOTIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommenda- <br />tion of Chief of Police Loren M. Rhode <br />Kurt Wissman <br />BIDS REJECTED - VIDEO TAPE RECORDER SYSTEM FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Bids received on December 8, 1969, for a video tape recorder system for the <br />Police Department having been reviewed and found not acceptable, it was moved, <br />seconded and carried that notice be published in the South Bend Tribune and <br />the TO County News on December 26, 1969, and on January 2, 1970, for new <br />bids to be received on January 5, 1970, all previous bids having been rejected. <br />
