335 <br />12/8/69 <br />It will be necessary, however, to have some emergency <br />number which can be called during the evening and night <br />hours, as well as to have the Street Department radio <br />manned during these periods. It is the feeling of the <br />Board of Public Works and Safety that the personnel in <br />the Alarm Station have sufficient time to do this work. <br />You are therefore directed to notify your personnel to <br />train themselves on this equipment, as they will be <br />responsible for its operation, some time between now <br />and January 1, 1970. <br />Very truly yours, <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY <br />s/ Lloyd S. Taylor, President" <br />The Board also orders that the Fire Department Rules and Regulations be <br />amended to read as follows: <br />Article VII, Section 3. Dispatchers shall have the <br />responsibility and authority for the proper reception <br />and transmission of all alarms, signals and messages <br />by both the Fire Department and any other Departrpents <br />of the City as required." <br />"Article VII, Section 8. Dispatchers shall <br />familiarize themselves with all calls and signals of <br />the Fire Department and other Departments of the City <br />of South Bend to the extent that they are applicable." <br />"Article VII, Section 13.(new) The dispatchers on duty <br />shall be responsible for manning the Street Department <br />telephone and radio during the hours when Street De- <br />partment personnel are not assigned to this duty, and <br />shall receive and relay all calls pertaining to Street <br />Department matters during such hours." <br />REQUEST PERMISSION TO ATTEND FUNERAL - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The approval of the Board on December 3, 1969 for Police officer Richard <br />Hazinski to use Police Vehicle #54 to attend the funeral of an officer in <br />Valparaiso, Indiana, on December 3, 1969, is confirmed this date and made <br />a part of these minutes. <br />IN -KIND RENT VOUCHERS FOR DECEMBER, 1969 - A.0 T I 0 N , INC. <br />In -kind rent vouchers .for Fire Station #5 in the amount of $169.62 and <br />for Fire Station #7 in the amount of $200.00 for December 1969, were, <br />ordered filed. <br />COMMUNICATION - ST. JOSEPH COUNTY COMMITTEE TO SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL POLICE <br />A communication from L. L. Taylor, Chairman of the St. Joseph County <br />Committee to Support your Local Police (S.Y.L.P.), P. 0. Box 2071, South <br />Bend, Indiana, addressed to Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner, was <br />reviewed and ordered filed. <br />ASSESSMENT ROLL FILED - IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3274 - ALLEY BETWEEN <br />SOUTH MICHIGAN AND MAIN STREETS <br />Clyde E. Williams and Associates, Inc., consulting engineers, file with <br />the Board certificate of completion of the paving of the alley between <br />South Michigan Avenue and Main Street in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications for the project. <br />And the City Engineer files with the Board an assessment roll, with the <br />names of the owners and a description of the property subject to be assessed, <br />with the amount of the prima facie assessment in the total sum of $5,998.80. <br />And the Board adopts a resolution accepting said assessment roll and sets <br />9:30 A.M. on December 29, 1969, as the time for hearing remonstrances. And <br />the Clerk is directed to gove notice of such hearing by publication in the <br />South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on December 12 and December 19, <br />1969. <br />
